Appetizing Adventures & Beautiful Beaches January 19, 2012

Florida is full of Appetizing Adventures and Beautiful Beaches.
One sunny day, we wandered up the coast to Clearwater Beach and Dunedin, stopping at Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill on the Beach for lunch.
Located on white sands overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the view from the Rockaway took our breath away.
I dove into a piled high fruit salad of bananas, kiwi, grapes, cantaloupe, and honeydew served with a slice of warm banana bread and a scoop of melt-in-your-mouth lemon sorbet cradled in a chilled bowl.
BFF enjoyed Fish and Chips (fried grouper and French fries).
After lunch, we walked out onto the pier to catch the Gulf breezes, before heading further up the coast to the town of Dunedin (Dun-ee-din), a small Scottish enclave residing next to the Greek enclave of Tarpon Springs.
Aah . . . that’s better!

Gorgeous photos! And yum fish and chips 😉
Thanks, Vix! We are so fortunate to live on the gorgeous Gulf.
Ninja turtles! Love the photos.
I was wearing my Ninja outfit this morning . . . hy~yah! 😀
I bought some amazing sponges in Tarpon Springs. MTM’s brother-in-law coaches at the high school there. You’re right. The coast there can salve the buffered soul.
It sure can! Blue skies, turquoise seas, and pristine sandy beaches. 😎
Oooh, I love white sand beaches! The photo is gorgeous… roll on summer! 🙂
Glad you enjoyed this pic of summer sands, Gracie Sam!
It’s cold here today…I want to be in Florida; ahh, good old visualization warms me up!
Exactly how I felt until we finally moved here in 2008. We’ve had gorgeous weather this winter ~ a few “cold” days for variety.
What a BEAUTIFUL place, Nancy!
Sure beats the cold and dreary views that have been haunting the outside of my windows recently! 🙂
It is a gorgeous place. We have never 2nd guessed our decision to move here. We love it.
Beautiful, clean beach! Can almost smell the fresh air in my mind. 🙂
The beaches on the Gulf Coast are wonderful . . . perfect for long meditative strolls.
There is still some charm left in Florida on the Gulf Coast and upper half of Atlantic. But Miami Dade and Broward are the pits and nothing is pristine or uncontaminated here from the beach to the people. I think there are 17 of us left that know who Joe DiMaggio was.
We haven’t made it over to Miami yet. I do want to see it . . . but I’d probably enjoy the Keys more. I’m not really a “city gal.”
BTW: I know who Joe DiMaggio was! 😉
This is my type of beach!
The beaches on the Gulf Coast are perfect for us ~ thanks for inspiring me/us with your challenge. 😀
It looks absolutely beautiful Nancy, such white sand!
Thanks, Barb. One of our favorite things about Florida are its lovely wide white beaches.
That’s a gorgeous beach Nancy! And, it’s the perfect setting for a fresh fruit salad. I’m missing Florida now. But, thank you for the short vacation from winter in Missouri.
You’re welcome, Theresa. Florida is a tough place to beat in the winter months. 😎
How beautiful! I love Florida. Glad you had such a nice day.
Thanks, Tammy. Me too! Best place I’ve ever lived . . . especially in the winter.
Looks relaxing 🙂
It is, indeed. Most times, anyway. 😉
Fruit salad, yummy yummy. Sorry, I have to refer The Wiggles, I have kids… Beautiful beach photo, looks like the perfect weather.
Do the Wiggles say “yummy yummy”? 😀
Woah, that looks beautiful! I wish I lived over there to enjoy this every day…
We don’t visit the beaches every day, but we do visit a few times a week . . . for medicinal purposes only, of course. 😉
Nancy…thank you for the beautiful photos…your description of the lunch made my mouth water. 🙂
We all make choices…and you have definitely made a great one! My husband and I are thrilled with the Colorado Rockies and have never regretted leaving the cold dreary CT winters…it gets cold here…but it is almost always sunny.
The Rockies are gorgeous. My younger brother lives in Fort Collins and LOVES Colorado. He’s been there about 15 years and doubt that he would ever move back east.
Now that’s one beautiful getaway…I know you enJOYed the day.
We did! 😀
My mouth is watering… *Smile*
Hope you have some appetizing adventures of your own this weekend, Mands! 😀
I love the white sand. So appealing!
Yes, my mouth is watering too. I have to go have breakfast now, but Bircher just doesn’t sound nearly as tempting. 😦
We love fruit . . . and often add an apple or orange to our plates no matter what else we are eating. Is “Bircher” a type of granola/breakfast cereal?
A type of muesli but I couldn’t remember how to spell it so I just improvised by leaving the word out!

Nancy, what a stunning view! Glad you had such a great meal in such a gorgeous place. What a wonderful place you live in…
It really is, Kate. We are so glad that we made it “home.” 😀
Wish I were there! Sand and beach look divine! 😉
The beach here whispers to me too.
BTW: I just found your comment in my SPAM folder . . . along with a comment from Cindy. Very odd.
Yes, hence those two posts I wrote on the issue… Poor PiP and Hugmamma had the same problem. Glad it’s resolved now. What a nightmare! TY! 😉
I’m glad it’s sorted now. I can’t imagine why a comment like this would be viewed as SPAM.
And this is the only one of yours that ended up in the SPAM folder. Odd.
Oh, Nancy, what a wonderful day…the beach and water look so beautiful…oh, I’d love to walk on beaches like that…and the lunch? mmmm….yummy too…so happy you had such a special day…. : )
Walking on the beach here is such a treat, Kathy! And NO high rises on “our island.”
We visited Dunedin in New Zealand. The city in Florida is completely different from Dunedin, NZ.
I’ve never been to New Zealand . . . you are a more seasoned traveler than me. 😀
My brother lives in Dunedin, New Zealand.
I’ve been there a few times. They get snowed in during winter!
Hmmmmmmmmmm….fruit salad….methinks a visit to the shops is on the cards.
A refreshing repast for one of your warm summer days, Granny.

What a lovely outing, Nancy. Food for the soul in more ways than one!
Yes! Man does not live by bread alone . . . we need spiritual nourishment too! 🙂
Sounds perfect! Simply perfect. Second photo is bee-u-tiful!
Thanks, Pixie. I’m sure you’re looking forward to being back on the Gulf Coast for a mid-winter getaway.
Beautiful photos, Nancy – do you ever dive or snorkel in the Gulf?
I have never done either ~ my brother and sister (and their spouses) got certified with s.c.u.b.a. and have done quite a bit of snorkeling as well. It is a beautiful place to engage in underwater adventures.
I havent been to your blog for a couple of months (I don’t know how others do it, but I can never catch up with all the blogs I’m trying to read!) but when I saw your comment on Cin’s blog that your happy place includes sun and water I knew I’d met a kindred spirit. Love this post. You live in a beautiful part of the world.
I’m also glad to see someone else who signed up for the stop censorship ribbon. I’m be coming over more often.
Thanks, Rosie! Glad you made it back to visit a “kindred spirit.” I understand completely . . . the blogosphere has so many worthy sites and posts that one could get lost down the “blog hole” for hours on end.
Due to neck issues, I am determined to step away from the keyboard more often . . . perhaps to enjoy my “happy place.”
Visit whenever the spirit moves ya! 😎
