But Here I Am Now January 24, 2024

Some learn to sail
To soar over the waves
And be free
But here I am now
On my deck
With no sails in sight
Just me and the breeze
Keeping company
As my spirit takes flight
“What you are looking for is the place you’re looking from.”
~ St. Francis of Assisi (maybe)
Aah . . . that’s better!

Enjoy!
Thanks, Kate. Finally caught a break in the weather and grabbed some deck time!
Technically we are having a break in the weather too but it’s not near as nice as your break and there is no thinking about deck time! 🙂
Wish I could send some added warmth your way.
The cat with the flower is a perfect illustration of your words.
Thanks, Nicki. Tapping into our bottomless pool of inner peace pays dividends as we realize that it’s what we’ve been looking for all along. Namaste.
Love those words Nancy. So glad the weather is a bit better and you can enjoy some inner peace time.
Thanks, Val!
It’s Fabsolutely Abulous!
That meditational cat has me jealous. I gotta “get” where that cat is at. Sounds like you’re already there, Nancy!
It’s a good place to be . . . periodically, if not permanently! 😀
Sounds wonderful Nancy! 🥰
It was! We’ve had a cold-ish winter with lots more gray skies than usual.
Having a warm-ish sunny day and time to enjoy it? Priceless!
How lovely to be on a deck enjoying a breeze. I hope you have lovely trees to look at.
Our deck abuts a lagoon with trees on the opposite shore . . . and plenty of birds around enjoying it all.
Wonderful!!!
“What you are looking for is the place you’re looking from”? Not sure I understand the meaning.
Is that like the saying, “no matter where you go, there you are”? Like from the movie, Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension.
The way I interpret it is along these lines:
Pain or pleasure, joy or misery, agony or ecstasy, happens only inside you. You may use outside as stimulus or trigger, but the real thing always comes from within. – Sadghuru, Inner Engineering
So, yes, I see it as akin to “no matter where you go, there you are” . . .
Wherever we go, we take our internal portmanteau with us. If it’s packed with happiness and gratitude, that’s what accompanies us on our journey. If it’s packed with stale grievances and regrets, that’s what accompanies us on our journey.
So where we are is less central to our peace and contentment than who we are at the core.
Of course, there may be other interpretations. I’m no expert. :D
I like your explanation. It makes sense to me. Somehow, despite being an English major who can find meaning in almost anything, that quote confused me. I get it now. Thanks.
You’re welcome, Ally!
Wish you could stop by for a chat (& an adult beverage) on the deck. We could toss our thoughts back and forth a few times. I expect enlightenment would ensue.
A great poem that reminds us that we pack our own sails. Soar!
Thanks, Pam. At the moment, I’m “grounded” with a sore back . . . but I shall soar again soon.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Ouch! So sorry. To stretches and relaxation and maybe a spot of wine to help the pain go away. xo
Bourbon helped. 😉
