Photo Challenge ~ Textured September 10, 2011

You are an artist. Your life is your masterpiece. You can allow others to dictate the subject matter, colors, tastes, and textures you apply to your canvas . . . or you can create a unique tapestry by following your desires.
No matter what we say or do in life, someone in the “audience” is going to be on a different wave length. Count on it. Plan for it.
Be an artist. Live by your own rules.
Today, I shall pull out my paints and play with my palette
Creating the world anew
Pink palms, tasseled with yellow fronds
Green skies, punctuated with purple clouds
Blue grass underfoot, and falling leaves filling the air
After all, words only take one so far
But dreams, dreams . . . hold the promise of infinity
Quotes to Ponder:
* Artists can color the sky red because they know it’s blue. Those of us who aren’t artists must color things the way they really are or people might think we’re stupid. ~ Jules Feiffer
* The human mind is inspired enough when it comes to inventing horrors; it is when it tries to invent a Heaven that it shows itself cloddish. ~ Evelyn Waugh
* When we enter the flow of life, our creativity knows no bounds.
* There are many things in life that will catch your eye, but only a few will catch your heart. Pursue these. ~ Michael Nolan
* Make each day your masterpiece. ~ John Wooden
No rules. Just write!

That’s clever!
Thanks, TillyB!
I went looking for one thing . . . and stumbled upon another entirely. Life is what happens while we’re busy making plans.
LOVE.THIS.POST. I think the artist in you did what I haven’t seen anyone else do with this prompt…most excellent!
Thanks, Suzi . . . our inner artists wait patiently for us to unleash them into the world. 😎
Very interesting post
Thanks, Pseu . . . I loved your take on this week’s theme.
Another good one, Nance. Who said the third quote you “sneaked in”?
Thanks, Amy. That’s “mine” . . . but I’m sure that I absorbed the wisdom from elsewhere. 😀
Fab photo effects- HOW did you do that?? And I love the thoughts even more. Each of our lives is a different texture. Thanks 🙂
Thanks, Kate. Glad you enjoyed.
HP Photosmart Premier has a “Special Effects” editing tool which I seldom use. This one, called Metallic, seemed perfect for the Textured challenge.
Our lives are a tapestry of rich and royal hue. ~ Carole King
Amazing photo and post! Thank you.
Thanks, I had fun with this theme . . . and loved your take on Textured too!
Is this where we join in a rousing refrain of “I did it my way”? I hope so, ’cause I love doing it my way. 🙂 Awesome poem, Nancy!
Yes! A rousing refrain of “I did it my way!” is a great way to limber up our inner artist.
Thanks so much, Ruth. Glad you enjoyed the poem.
Thank goodness for dreams, Nancy
Without our dreams, we would be mere ants in an ant farm . . . building tunnels to nowhere.
Lovely reminder to be free from artificial constraints. Thank you for all your support!
Thanks, Lynn!
Keep the faith . . . the tide is turning. _/!\_
This is a good thing and it helped everybody.:-)
I have no idea why I said the above… other than because I’m tired… I love the textured photos posts you offer. 🙂
Get some shut eye, kiddo. Remember . . . you’re still recovering from pneumonia.
Stay well.
Well done! 🙂
The weekly photo themes entice me to search around for a slightly different slant or angle in life to share.
Did you contribute this week?
Great post, with very inspiring quotes. Thank you very much for sharing!
Thanks, lol. I enjoy the photo challenge since it gives me a change to view the world through a slightly different lens.
The John Wooden quote is one of my favorites!
Maintaining an attitude of gratitude (as you do) increases the likelihood that today will shine.

Very good post, I love the texture of your photo and your quotes.
Thanks, Maggie. You did a wonderful job exploring textures at the beach. 😀
That is a very different approach to the challenge. Oh, and you’ve got another of my favourite albums there – Carole King 🙂
I love playing around with the photo themes and Sidey’s challenge. A chance to loosen the “straightjacket” a bit.
Another brilliant singer/songwriter.
MyTop Ten songs are attuned to moods and time zones ~ they change if I’m looking forward or back. 😀
“Be an artist. Live by your own rules” love the metallic effect of the art piece. The quotes are beautiful . It reminds me to live life to the fullest.Thanks.
Seize the day! 😀
