Weekly Photo Challenge: Shadows March 6, 2011

Encouraged by brilliant sunlight and fertile soil, we germinate.
We blossom and reach out, expanding our depth and our breadth, to explore the world around us.
Sheltered by shade, our fruit matures in shallow mid-day shadows.

Quote: Probably the happiest period in life is in middle age, when the eager passions of youth are cooled, and the infirmities of age not yet begun; as we see that the shadows, which are at morning and evening so large, almost entirely disappear at midday. ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

They look nice and healthy! Did you grow these?
I’m using the shadow of some vegetables to shade others…well…I will once they grow!!
I took this photo at our C.S.A. (Community Supported Agriculture) Farm ~ on Earth Day.
Great photo – lovely words…
Thanks, Ruth.
When I looked for quotes about shadows, Eleanor’s words rang out loud and clear.
Life summed up beautifully!
Thanks, Jeanne.
I enjoyed my younger years, but the shadows seemed far longer then.
Great photo to accompany Eleanor’s wonderful quote!
Thanks, Barb. Here’s to a great harvest!
Nancy, you did this photo challenge justice! Beautiful post. Sweet, sentimental, endearing. Blessings to you…
Thanks, Carol Ann. Here’s to all the seasons of our lives.
Love those trumpet blooms Nancy… very warm and welcoming. Looking forward to spring and florals 🙂

I love seeing the trumpet shaped yellow squash blossoms. I ate one once in a restaurant . . . the taste and texture did not appeal to me. From now I’ll wait for the squash to mature.
Here’s to spring. Glorious spring.
Nice pic – I can just feel them soaking up the goodness of earth, sun, and water. And see the more tender ones flourishing in the shade. The text supports the pic. If a pic is worth a thousand words, then the right words makes a pic worth more.
Thanks, Sandra. Words and pictures can have a symbiotic relationship ~ each adding to the value of the other.
Growing squash is a treat. In NC, our zucchini plants had huge leaves. Trying to find the squash hidden underneath the leaves was like seeking buried treasure.
“Ahoy, Matey!”
