First Grade Drawing – PRICELESS!

A first grade girl handed in the drawing below for her homework assignment.

when-i-grow-up-6906-1232580504-16

The teacher graded it and the child took it home.

The young girl returned to school the next day with the following note:

Dear Ms. Davis,

I want to be perfectly clear on my child’s homework illustration.

It is NOT me pole dancing on a stage in a strip joint surrounded by male customers with money.

I work at Home Depot and had commented to my daughter how much money we made in the recent snowstorm.

This drawing is of me selling a shovel.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Harrington

Aah . . . that’s better!

Haha! I love that story.

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

I wonder how often children blow the whistle on their parents? 😎

2. Carl D'Agostino - May 17, 2014

Well, mommy still is not wearing any clothes.

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

And she’s surrounded by naked men!

3. colonialist - May 17, 2014

That’s HER story! 🙂

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

She needs to get another illustrator for her memoirs.

colonialist - May 17, 2014

Not so sure. This one would really enable her to sell!

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

That’s a great idea ~ this could be the cover!

4. nancytex2013 - May 17, 2014

That is perfectly awesome!! 😀

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

Pole dancing is great exercise. So is shoveling snow. I bet that’s how mom stays stick thin!

nancytex2013 - May 17, 2014

Combining the two activities = one helluva workout!

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

Yes! What a way to stay lithe and limber!

5. Don - May 17, 2014

One helluva shovel. 🙂

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

It’s almost the size of a snow plow!

6. Jill Weatherholt - May 17, 2014

A friend of mine sent that to me some time ago, it’s still hilarious the second time around, Nancy! Thanks for the smiles!

Some things circle cyberspace in perpetual motion . . . like the Energizer Bunny, they never seem to run out of steam.

7. I am J - May 17, 2014

“Priceless” says it all. What a sweet story.

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

Glad you enjoyed, J!

8. Anne Lene - May 17, 2014

How funny 🙂

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

I can see “mom” being a bit mortified at her daughter’s creative endeavor.

9. 2e0mca - May 17, 2014

LoL – such an easy mis-interpretation to make 😉 I dread to think what sort of drawing would have ensued had my son tried to depict me hauling in a cable!

nrhatch - May 18, 2014

Hahaha! That image is priceless, Martin! Too funny!

10. Behind the Story - May 17, 2014

I wonder who originally posted this: the teacher, the mom, a friend who couldn’t stop laughing …

nrhatch - May 17, 2014

Good question. I can see ripples of laughter all through cyberspace.

Not that there’s anything wrong with it…

nrhatch - May 18, 2014

Echoes of Jerry Seinfeld and George Kostanza:

“We’re NOT Gay! . . . Not that there’s anything wrong with it.” 😎

ericjbaker - May 18, 2014

Exactly. If she were a pole dancer, it wouldn’t make her a bad person.

🙂

nrhatch - May 18, 2014

When we lived in Winston-Salem, we went to a classy strip joint for happy hour a few times ~> amazing what talented exotic dancers can do with a simple pole.

12. diannegray - May 18, 2014

Haaaa – I LOVE it! 😀

nrhatch - May 18, 2014

I’m guessing “mom” didn’t frame it for the living room.

13. Pix Under the Oaks - May 19, 2014

This is funny!!!

nrhatch - May 19, 2014

Yay! Glad you enjoyed. Have a Happy Monday. I’m taking BFF on a Mystery Ride for lunch.

14. Three Well Beings - May 20, 2014

Honestly, this is just the funniest thing! You just know that teacher had worried about how to respond with a picture like that. LOL!

nrhatch - May 20, 2014

Sometimes the safest reaction is no reaction. Deadpan. Or, as Sgt. Schultz (Hogan’s Heroes) used to say, “I see nothing.”

15. Grannymar - May 20, 2014

I’m rippling away over here. Back tomorrow to play catch up.

nrhatch - May 21, 2014

Excellent! With all your running about lately, you need to take it easy, not wear yourself out playing catch up.

16. Booksphotographsandartwork - May 21, 2014

OH my gosh!!!! That is too funny! and it would be so embarrassing.

nrhatch - May 21, 2014

I can see more than a few mom’s getting miffed or mortified at the “mix up” ~> wanting to straighten things out by return note.

17. sufilight - May 22, 2014

LOL!!! The mom’s reaction is funny. 😀

We tend to tend to our reputations ~ even if they are figments of the imagination. 😎
