Video Killed The Radio Star September 8, 2011

In the last couple of days, I’ve been reminded that a picture tells a thousand words . . . and videos crank up the volume still further:

Christine (Random Thoughts From MidLife) filmed a rattlesnake being removed from the premises at a Hilton Head resort.

The 5-foot long snake had stationed itself in the bushes along the pathway to the beach . . . inches away from beachgoers bare feet:

Animal Control Bags Rattlesnake

Martin (Thoughts From Finchley) shared a clever and amusing video today and I will not say more so as not to defeat its surprise element:

Forget the Weekly Photo Challenge . . . there’s a war out there!

What’s even better than videos for children and their lively imaginations . . . picture books!

Thanks for the mention Nancy

For Children – Picture Books are fantastic 🙂

nrhatch - September 8, 2011

You’re welcome, Martin. I loved that video. So clever.

I hope that someone I know wins Julie’s contest! The three books look darling. 😀

2. CMSmith - September 8, 2011

Thanks again, Nancy.

You are far more intrepid than me, Christine. I would have handed the video camera to someone else while finding a safe place to hang out until that bad boy was in the bag! 😯

3. Julie - September 8, 2011

Thanks for the link Nancy!

nrhatch - September 8, 2011

Hope your contest is a WIN~WIN~WIN for you, the winner, and the book author!

Ah, the scrabble to get that perfect picture: it is the closest I come to true avarice.

nrhatch - September 8, 2011

I expect you would get a giggle out of Martin’s video. It’s a bit of scrabble. 😀

Where are my boots? Holy moly! Sounds like a good giveaway too. We shall pass in onto our friends with kids.

nrhatch - September 8, 2011

Exactly what I said . . . next time I wander down a path to the beach, I’m going to be wearing my Kick Ass Combat Boots! 😀

Please do let folks know about the delightful give-away!

Here’s one you may enjoy, it brought a little tear to my eyes:

nrhatch - September 8, 2011

I didn’t understand the voice over . . . wrong language for me. But I got the gist of the message.

Sorry to see you’re up in the middle of the night again. 😦

That snake didn’t seem happy. I don’t think I’d want to mess with it, that’s for sure.

I got a chuckle out of the “war” one.

Thanks for sharing the links!

nrhatch - September 8, 2011

I’m with you . . . I’ll leave the snake handling to others. Glad you enjoyed the links.

I can so relate to TOO PICKLEY – sounds like MY BOOK!

nrhatch - September 8, 2011

I love the kid’s face with upturned nose! 😀

Thanks for sharing these, Nancy.

nrhatch - September 9, 2011

You’re welcome.

I want to pay more attention to spreading the good around the blogosphere. I read so many great posts but they tend to quickly fade from memory.

A five foot long rattlesnake!
I would have flown along the path and then walked on water!

nrhatch - September 9, 2011

I would have learned to FLY! Rattlesnakes and bare feet are NOT perfect together. 😯

13. adeeyoyo - September 9, 2011

I don’t think movies, videos etc. will ever truly replace the pleasure of reading a book! Love this post, Nancy.

nrhatch - September 9, 2011

I agree with you, Adee. There is something to be said for the ability to turn the page at our own pace . . . lingering longer on some than others.

14. spilledinkguy - September 9, 2011

That video is too clever, isn’t it?!
I got such a laugh out of it!
🙂

nrhatch - September 9, 2011

I’m glad you enjoyed. The unexpected surprise made me laugh. I should watch it again right now . . . I need a laugh.
