Plot Twist January 25, 2017

A wise man at a lecture cracked a joke. Everyone laughed.
He told the joke again and fewer people laughed.
He told it a third time and no one laughed.
When there was no laughter left, he smiled and said:
“We can’t laugh at the same joke again and again and again . . . so why do we insist on crying about the same thing again and again and again?”
When something bad happens, just yell “Plot Twist” and move on.
Aah . . . that’s better!

Wise words Nancy 🙂
“A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It’s jolted by every pebble on the road.” ~ Henry Ward Beecher
Love it. Will do henceforth.
“A well-developed sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to your steps as you walk the tightrope of life.” ~ William Arthur Ward
Plot twist is terrific!! I will use this one.
Creating stories + plot twists + going with what comes up = Life.
Good luck with the new plot 💛
Thanks, Val! Here’s to going with the flow!
As always .. it really is the best advice 💛
True… wise words,Nancy!
Life is better with laughter!
That’s such a good and wise story, Nancy. (Of course, in the days of Vaudeville, he could have built an entire career telling the same joke again and again.) 🙂
Haha! Vaudeville + tired corny jokes = perfect together!
Good lesson.
A day without laughter is a day wasted!
Truth!
I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning. ~ J.B. Priestley
Some people, though, are only happy when they’re unhappy.
Like that old parody: ‘When you’re happy and your eyes are always der-ry-ee, don’t you know that it’s the thing to sob and sigh-ee … wipe off that smile, and weep awhile … don’t be a snob, sit down and sob, c’mon and cer-ry-ee!’
I much prefer: “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands!”
Theatre performers would endorse that!
Wow. That was profound!
Glad it resonates with you, Linda.
Love this wise advice, Nancy. Why on earth do we keep playing the same sad movie over and over in our heads? Such ‘silly billies’ we are. 🙂 xx
Yes!!! I am getting better at catching myself mid-thought and changing the channel with a couple of quick questions:
“Is this thought helpful? Will it make me happy or help me find a solution?”
If not, I think of something else to think about.
👍
Wow! Such simple wisdom! I like this. 🙂
Me too! It reminds us to step into the role of detached observer where we more easily see that this too shall pass.
Great advice, Nancy! Movin’ on now.
Just thinking “plot twist” interjects a little (much needed) levity into the mix.
Oh yes!
Wise words, Nancy! Words everyone could need to hear once or twice…. or a thousand times.
Most of us would get bored reading books & watching movies with no tension, conflict, or challenges for the characters to circumnavigate.
Maybe we would feel the same in our own lives if we had no “potholes” to maneuver around or mountains to climb?
You are so correct! To me the quote made me think off that we should not live in the past and cry over things it’s impossible to change… I like your version too 🙂
My interpretation mirrors your own.
Once we accept the “plot twists” of life, there is no need to keep crying over things we cannot change . . . like the past.
Brilliant! This is going to be a keeper 🙂
PLOT TWIST! I can’t even say it without laughing 🙂
That’s my reaction too! It just makes me GRIN!
