This comical hand-embroidered reindeer, with tiny tree, heart, and star hanging from his antlers, spread lots of love and joy one year.
After buying Randolph the Reindeer at a craft fair (from Nancy James, his seamstress), I re-created his visage and ornaments in a series of colorful watercolors to give as gifts.
At the bottom of each watercolored reindeer, I added an aphorism designed to encourage us to let our lights shine:
* Tis the Season to be Jolly.
* We do not laugh because we are happy. We are happy because we laugh.
* Shine on!
* Always remember that you don’t have to be who they want you to be.
* Be Merry. And Bright.
* He deserves Paradise who can make his companions laugh.
Sing choirs of angels. Sing in exultation.
Sing all ye citizens of heav’n above.
