Hope that Elliot doesn’t wreak havoc with your Christmas plans and that you devise ways to stay warm amid this windy wintry weather.

We are under a wind chill advisory for tonight.  That doesn’t happen often around here.  Here’s hoping that warmer weather returns in due course.

In the meantime, have a Hot Toddy!

Aah . . . that’s better!

I like cold.
Come to South Africa.
Hot, hot, hot.
Have a wonderful festive season.

nrhatch - December 23, 2022

Hot, Hot, Hot with periodic power outages (i.e., no A/C) . . . that’s no way to celebrate Christmas! 😀

Have a Merry One!

2. Kate Crimmins - December 23, 2022

Let’s hope no oranges are injured during this freeze!

nrhatch - December 23, 2022

I expect the orange crop will take a hit unless they can get enough heaters out in the fields. Another option is to spray the trees with water. The frozen water acts as an insulator. Either way, I’m glad I don’t have to spend the night outside tonight.

Have a nice Christmas with lots of laughs!

3. sarsm - December 23, 2022

Stay safe and I hope it doesn’t derail Christmas too much.

nrhatch - December 23, 2022

Thanks! We’ve got it better than much of the country, but it’s cold and windy tonight. Glad we can stay inside.

4. joyroses13 - December 23, 2022

Yes it is Bitter Cold, down to the single digits now and it will just keep falling through the night. Merry Christmas and enjoy your hot toddy! Stay warm!

nrhatch - December 23, 2022

Stay bundled up, JR. And only poke your nose outside if it’s absolutely necessary!

joyroses13 - December 23, 2022

I have only poked my nose out when I had to let the doggies out to go potty!

nrhatch - December 24, 2022

I am elated that we need not go outside to an outhouse. That would get old FAST!

5. Val Boyko - December 23, 2022

So happy to have a house sealed up for the chill! It’s 9 outside and 75 sitting in the kitchen next to the fire burning stove. Another night like this and we will all be handled around the fire❣️

Val Boyko - December 23, 2022

Snuggled around the fire and digging out old knitted afghans and newer throws!

nrhatch - December 23, 2022

I hear ya, Val. That fire sounds delightful . . . when the weather outside is frightful. I dug out a winter coat, booties, blankets, etc., to get us through the next couple of days.

Merry Christmas!

Val Boyko - December 23, 2022

Merry Christmas Nancy 🤍🎄🕊️

6. Rivergirl - December 24, 2022

I’d love to have a hot toddy, but can’t. Post to follow…

7. Mark Petruska - December 25, 2022

Hell, even a cold toddy helps you forget about the chill!

8. L. Marie - December 28, 2022

We were in the deep freeze before Christmas–around -8, finally climbing to zero. Christmas Day we climbed up to around 8 or 9. A heatwave!

nrhatch - December 28, 2022

We are slowly rebounding too . . . but never dipped that low. Shiver me timbers!

By this weekend, we are supposed to be at normal temps again. Just in time to ring in the New Year!

9. walkingoffthechessboard - January 5, 2023

Nancy, just wanted to stop by and wish you and yours the best for 2023!

nrhatch - January 7, 2023

Thanks, Bruce! The weather has been more to my liking since a few days post Christmas. Today, was back in the low 70’s. Perfect for strolling through waterfront parks ~ we went to 3 different parks today. And, now, I’m tired. 😀

Hope 2023 has lots of fun surprises in store for you.

walkingoffthechessboard - January 7, 2023

After being 65 a couple of days ago, we have a chance of snow flurries overnight. I think both your weather and ours is getting back to normal…whatever normal is these days!? My same wish for 2023 for you as well, Nancy.

10. Ally Bean - January 7, 2023

Just checking in to see what’s up with you. Obviously we survived the subzero temps up here, but not a fan of that kind of weather. Happy New Year!

nrhatch - January 7, 2023

Thanks, Ally. It’s nice that the temps have rebounded a bit. We spent most of the day outside today ~ farmer’s market, outdoor art show, 3 parks, and a picnic lunch at a Tiki Bar. I’m worn out from all that fresh air and sunshine.!

Here’s to a year that suits us to a T!

11. anotherday2paradise - January 7, 2023

I believe it’s going to cool down again for next weekend. Don’t put your thermals away just yet, Nancy.

nrhatch - January 7, 2023

The temps next weekend seem like they will be on the brisk side. We’re doing lots of outdoorsy things today so that we can stay home next weekend and sip soup. 😀

So glad to see your post pop up today!

anotherday2paradise - January 7, 2023

We’re enjoying the somewhat cooler weather as one of our a/c units has given up the ghost and hubby is busy replacing it. It should be all finished by the time the weather really cools down again.

nrhatch - January 8, 2023

In Florida, winter is the best time of year to lose A/C for sure!
