I’ve Got Dibs! May 1, 2022

I’ve been ignoring blog maintenance since Easter.
When I went to the Spam Filter to toss out the trash, I found it populated with 237+ Spam Messages, predominantly from the Dibs.
More specifically, I found multiple messages from William Dib, Mark Dib, Ugo Dib, Wim Dib, Paul Dib, and Ash Dib.
As well as multiple messages from Lisa Dib, Boo Dib, Mary Dib, Jane Dib, Mia Dib, Ivy Dib.
Suffice it to say, I’ve got Dibs on anything I want for the foreseeable future:
To call dibs, you usually actually say (or shout) dibs, especially while mentioning the thing you’re claiming, as in Dibs on the last slice of pizza! If you’ve got dibs, you consider yourself to have the right to the thing that you’ve made a claim to. Dibs is very informal and is mostly used by kids.
Here’s someone else who’s calling Dibs:
Aah . . . that’s better!
You do know, now you have named them, you are going to be inundated with more.
As long as they hang out quietly in the Spammer Slammer, I’m OK with that ~ it’ll probably be Labor Day before I remember to clean it out again. 😀
Lucky you, Nancy. 🙂
Wham Bam Thank You Spam!
My PIA is TuyetKendy. I’ve blocked it but it comes back in different forms. I wish there was a mass delete button for WP. You can only delete 20 at a time unless I’m missing something.
I haven’t found it either. It takes me forever to delete some days…
😡
There is a “Empty Spam” button on my blog that lets you delete ALL spam at once. I usually scroll through the Spam first to make sure that no one I like got tossed into the Spam folder by mistake.
I don’t think I have that….
On mine, if I go to Comments ~> SPAM ~> the “Empty Spam” button is to the right of the “Apply” button (used to delete 20 at a time). But maybe not all iterations of WP blogs have one.
I don’t even have an apply button.
🥴
One reason I haven’t changed my theme in . . . well, ever . . . is because I know that it would involve a learning curve on where to find what button. 😆
Can’t blame you there.
Ha! I get the same type of variations but never a Dib. They must spawn electronically.
🤣
It’s the “name of the month” for April. What’ll it be for May? Let’s hope it’s something FUN.
Oh my! I haven’t deleted my spam for … well, ages. Thanks for the reminder.
The Spam Folder is tucked away and easy to ignore. Once in a while, comments from friends get tossed into the Spammer Slammer by Akismet ~> with a quick click, we can set them free. 😀
I thank goodness for a spam filter every day. It’s a shame that spam exists but in lieu of worrying about it, I bless the Spammer Slammer, a great name for it btw.
Yes! I’m so glad that Akismet traps most Spam before it sees the light of day. Having to weed out Spam comments from an active comment thread would be a PAIN in the $%^&!
I would have to stop blogging for sure.
I haven’t thought of my Spam folder in a long time. Now I’m almost afraid to check it out! At least you know yours works very well! 🙂
I expect, but do not know, that AKISMET cleans out the Spam Filters periodically so we don’t have to . . . but I like to check them myself to make sure no one I know is stuck in there by accident.
