‘Tis The Season To Start Shopping! October 5, 2021

Posted by nrhatch in Food & Drink, Home & Garden, Humor, Life Balance.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . .

shop kitchen and dining

But I’m not ready to . . .

shop holiday home decor

Besides, it’s way too early to put out an Advent Calendar . . . no matter how nice or naughty.

There are only 25 doors!

Aah . . . that’s better!

Nope, nope and nope! Way too early although “they say” to get gifts early because there will be shortages.

nrhatch - October 5, 2021

And postal delays.
And postal surcharges.
And . . .

I’m making a list
I’m checking it twice
And then I’m tossing it away
And doing the holiday My Way

The CHECK is on me!
CHECKS all around.

No shopping
No wrapping
And one size fits all.

Just… no.
Halloween, Thanksgiving then Xmas. Wait your turn Santa!

nrhatch - October 5, 2021

AGREED x 3! I don’t want to see or hear a peep out of Santa until the day AFTER Thanksgiving.

That’s the way it works in my world.

Rivergirl - October 5, 2021

Poor Thanksgiving always gets pushed to the side. Not nearly enough turkeys and pilgrims out there.

nrhatch - October 5, 2021

I’ll pass on the turkey . . . and gobble down the sides . . . BEFORE lifting a finger for Christmas.

No No NOOOOO! (Kate and RIvergirl say it well). What is it with the push for the holidays? Live each day! Enjoy the moment! The commercialization and $$$$ push is just. plain. wrong.

nrhatch - October 5, 2021

And none of us need to live in houses that look like Christmas on steroids. No holiday explosions or implosions here. Just simple, tasteful decor.

Aah . . . that’s better!

roughwighting - October 5, 2021

Agree AGREE! Sigh. Yes, I feel better too. 🙂

Great minds think alike ~> go team!

Way too early for me! Don’t want to even think of it!

nrhatch - October 5, 2021

Same here, LM. I was shocked to have these ads land in my in box yesterday morning . . . the 4th of October. Way too early.

5. Debra - October 5, 2021

I just can’t. I really cannot even begin to think about October, let alone Christmas! I am beginning to see indicators that the retailers are raring to go, but I will resist as long as possible.

nrhatch - October 5, 2021

They are beginning to PUSH out the ads and the store displays, but I say: JUST SAY NO!

6. Behind the Story - October 5, 2021

I’m thinking about birthdays–my granddaughter and my daughter, both born in October. We don’t have any trick-or-treaters in the family, but we’re talking about getting together for a Halloween lunch. Not thinking about Christmas yet.

nrhatch - October 5, 2021

I hope you have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN, Nicki. One of our favorite holidays (even if we don’t have trick or treaters these days). It’s still fun to celebrate with costumed characters.
