Experience A Little Deja Vu May 17, 2021

Posted by nrhatch in Home & Garden, Humor, Nature, Travel & Leisure.

Now that things are opening up after 14 months of masks and social distancing due to CoVid, experience a little “deja vu” by doing something again . . . for the first time.

Ride a bike, take a wagon ride, go roller skating, climb a tower, build a treehouse, spy on birds, stroll the water’s edge, plant a garden, wander the woods, pack a picnic, go horseback riding, step back in time at a local historic site, or, if you’re feeling brave, enjoy a canopy sail through the tree tops via parachute or parasail.

The sky’s the limit!

As much I yearn for a return to normalcy, I’m not ready to resume full blown travel. Yet….

nrhatch - May 17, 2021

Same here, sister. I’m fine staying close to home with simple pleasures and amusing diversions and conversation.

Rivergirl - May 17, 2021

We’ve ventured out to eat and did a little furniture shopping… but I doubt we’ll travel this year.

And you did a great job putting together your Barn Bar. Now you can invite friends over to enjoy the fruits of your labor!

L. Marie - May 18, 2021

I hear you!

nrhatch - May 18, 2021

After a year of near-hibernation, I should be chomping at the bit to get out and do things . . . but I’m still content (most of the time) with our social distance. Soon. We’ll do something soon. 😆

I did quite a bit of nature stuff during the pandemic because there wasn’t much else to do. I found beautiful places that weren’t frequented by people and it was glorious. Now I’m hoping for things like restaurants and store stock to loosen up a bit. We survived the lockdown well although we are both retired and that helped.

Enjoy your first forays to delicious dinners, luscious lunches, and spectacular shopping. I expect that many of us will take pleasure in some of the activities of daily life we used to take for granted.

Perfect quote. It’s all the same…but after the last year, it and we are all different. Nice post!

nrhatch - May 17, 2021

Thanks! I’ve always loved that quote and it is quite apt at the moment. To our reawakening!

4. joyroses13 - May 17, 2021

Yes! Great activities and great quote. Happy Monday Nancy!

nrhatch - May 18, 2021

Thanks, JR! Each week we choose one new or deja vu activity to do . . . or sometimes we don’t, if we’re not in the mood. 😉

joyroses13 - May 18, 2021

Sounds like a good plan to me! 😊

Even the simplest things seem special when we haven’t done them for many months.

nrhatch - May 18, 2021

Yes! Like your trip to wander the gardens for Mother’s Day. A splendid outing, bursting with color!

6. L. Marie - May 18, 2021

I plan to go to a restaurant for the first time in over a year.

nrhatch - May 18, 2021

I expect you’ll be in good company, LM!

We’re still in hard lockdown in my area but I am so looking forward to getting out and about when it’s finally deemed safe. But I think we too, will stay fairly close to home.
I so miss giving the people I love a hug.

nrhatch - May 19, 2021

Hope you get to give and take some super hugs soon!

sarsm - May 19, 2021

Thank you!!!

Wonderful post, Nancy. I’m really considering the joys of small pleasures I once took for granted. I texted a friend today and suggested we meet next week for lunch in an actual restaurant. I have Zoomed our “cocktail hour” for all this time, and it’s going to be just wonderful giving her a physical hug!

nrhatch - May 20, 2021

Oh, do have fun with your face to face meet up and hug! It’s so nice to plan something like that after all this social distance!

9. Erica/Erika - May 21, 2021

You say it well, Nancy 😀 We are not quite there, yet, I always count my blessing. The rainbows will appear soon.

nrhatch - May 21, 2021

Things around here seem a bit safer every day. Hope Canada can soon say the same.

I think just being able to go out to a restaurant with friends will do me just fine for now. I do believe my parasailing days are over, pandemic or no pandemic. 😅

nrhatch - June 7, 2021

Well, you could always take up skydiving! 😆
