What An Endorsement! May 1, 2021

A man died and at his funeral the priest asked if anyone would share some words about the deceased. Nobody came forward.

Moments went by and still nobody came forward.

Finally someone came up and said, “His brother was worse.”

Aah . . . what an endorsement!

Shortest eulogy… ever.
🤣

Happy Saturday, RG! Enjoy your Barn Bar for Cinco de Mayo this week!

Rivergirl - May 1, 2021

I have already had 3 margaritas in anticipation….

nrhatch - May 1, 2021

You go, girl!

2. Kate Crimmins - May 1, 2021

I’m surprised anyone was there!

nrhatch - May 1, 2021

Haha! That’s a good point. Maybe they were hoping to be fed?

3. Luanne - May 1, 2021

Lol! I guess they attended so they could see if anybody had anything good to say.

nrhatch - May 1, 2021

Too funny! Or maybe they wanted to hear all the dirt!

4. Val Boyko - May 1, 2021

Chuckling … that’s life! Until we know different 💛🙏💛

nrhatch - May 2, 2021

Just so, Val! Life is easier when we do.

5. Behind the Story - May 1, 2021

So sad! But I guess they were following the rule of “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”

nrhatch - May 2, 2021

That’s it, Nicki. We had a crowd of folks all biting their tongues!

6. L. Marie - May 2, 2021

😄 😁 Hilarious!

nrhatch - May 2, 2021

Glad you enjoyed. I heard this a few weeks back and new I had to share it on SLTW.

Ouch! LOL! Makes me think that it’s probably better not to open up the question unless you’re confident the deceased was well respected. I did attend a funeral once where the teenaged daughter decided to speak up and although she wasn’t intending to say anything the rest of us didn’t need to hear, she opened up some “old laundry.” In saying something lovely about her father she managed to throw her mother under the bus. I’ve never forgotten it…very uncomfortable!

I’ve oftened noticed at funerals that the deceased has been elevated to “sainthood” as a result of his/her demise ~> everyone has lovely things to say about the just departed . . . but not always about their loved ones. We are an amusing bunch.

Debra - May 3, 2021

We sure are! You’re kinder than I am, Nancy. I might have said we are a “strange” bunch. LOL!

nrhatch - May 4, 2021

Haha! If I am able to laugh at our fumbles and foibles, it’s easier on my ZEN-itude! _/!\_

8. joyroses13 - May 3, 2021

Oh dear! LOL!

nrhatch - May 3, 2021

Exactly! It’s a bit like asking for a bride’s hand in marriage and being handed a pumpkin instead!

joyroses13 - May 3, 2021

Yes!😂

9. Erica/Erika - May 3, 2021

Hi Nancy, I have been off the grid for a couple of weeks. I don’t want to miss your posts.🙂 Ha ha on the endorsement. The sad part is how true it is.

nrhatch - May 3, 2021

Welcome back! I’ve been quite lackadaisical about posts so far in 2021 . . . partly because I do not enjoy the changes WP made behind the scenes.

You know how it is with new tricks and old dogs.

Erica/Erika - May 3, 2021

I am not sure what changes WP made behind the scenes…..I do find putting together posts more convoluted

nrhatch - May 3, 2021

I’m sure if I stick with it, my old “muscle memory” will fade and new synapses will take hold. But there’s definitely a learning curve since it’s not intuitive.

10. roughwighting - May 6, 2021

Oh. Dear. Or not so dear!!! 👀🙃

nrhatch - May 6, 2021

Haha! Never speak ill of the dead . . . nor extol their non-existent virtues.

11. anotherday2paradise - June 7, 2021

Ha……..what a eulogy! 😅

nrhatch - June 7, 2021

I loved this ,. . . sometimes it’s hard to think of the right thing to say, eh? 😀
