Chill! It’s only Chaos! October 18, 2020

Despite the pandemic, the election, and the looming dangers of climate change, I feel calm, cool, collected, and at peace.
Others (particularly the less charitable) might view my current demeanor as “extreme apathy” rather than as “zen enlightenment and acceptance.”
So be it. 😛
Relax. Everything is cool.
What consumes your mind controls your life.
Think about what could go RIGHT.
Aah . . . that’s better!
My cats control my life. Mostly. It’s not all bad either except I did have to clean up two barfs today!
Friday was National Boss’s Day ~> the perfect day to be a cat!
Literal laugh out loud!!
Haha! Glad you enjoyed!
I do my part to keep myself and those around me safe. That’s really all we can do these days.
Just got off the phone with my sister. We spent much of the call discussing plans (or no plans) for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We generally get together for those two holidays, but we may opt out of both this year. Time will tell.
We’re having similar discussions.
🙁
I keep thinking of Anne Frank . . . if she could spend 2 full years hiding from the Nazis in a 450 sq. ft. loft with little more than her diary for companionship, then I should be able to traverse the present landscape without complaint.
Chaos is the only order!
Life might be dull without it – as long as you can smile and have a senes of humor?
This is the perfect post!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed.
If I ever lose my sense of humor . . . I’m sunk!
“What consumes your mind controls your life” …has a truer statement been written? I’m taking this one to the bank, and will cash it in when required. Thank you!
Glad it resonated. Once we realize that we don’t have to believe everything we think . . . and that we can CHANGE the channel on our thoughts ~> we are back in the driver’s seat!
I agree. Gotta get your Zen on if we’re going to survive the next few weeks with our sanity intact. ✌🏻
I’ve been playing a Zen version of “Mother May I?” . . .
I took a GIANT STEP back into the “realm of detachment” when things began shuttering in March. And another GIANT LEAP when the political campaigning kicked into high gear.
I’ve also taken a few BUNNY HOPS away from the increasing fragility of our eco-system as demonstrated by out of control forest fires and hurricanes. And soon it will be time for a few dizzying TWIRLS (and perhaps a GRAND PLIE) to get through the holidays.
Is Zen-Den terribly Zen?
He got the nickname because he can listen to anyone go on and on about some problem, then summarize the problem condensing it into a sentence like a koan. If I’m upset and want to rant, it’s infuriating– but he’s often right and balanced in his summation, so overall it’s a good thing.
I’m glad that you can see the positives of his generally even-keeled (and even koaned) approach to things!
I’m with you Nancy. Bringing awareness internally and focusing in the positive bring balance in this chaotic world. Turning off the tv and social media also helps of course!
I watch the political news with “amused detachment.” Doing so helps me to maintain my balance. 💡
Yes! Go for the positive! Be an optimist! Life feels better when you do! 🙂 That’s my philosophy but life gets inside my head too. Do you read Heather Cox Richardson? From the UK I find her views very interesting.
I’ll check her out. I’ve not heard of her before. Thanks, Sally.
We love reading her letters as they keep us informed. 🙂
A great way to be. It is what it is! Why choose to be miserable about it, when we have no control!
Exactly! How we relate to “the issue” is THE issue!
So people are complaining because you’re not ranting and going off on people? Wow. In 2024, I’m going to need you to run for president, Nancy.
Haha. I’m going to decline that nomination, LM. Politics holds no appeal for me . . . mostly due to rubbing elbows with other politicians on a daily basis. Eww!
That said, I will continue to speak my truth quietly and clearly to those in my immediate orbit.
An excellent post, Nancy, in few words. I am with you and I want to hang around you.🙂
Thanks! I love chill-axing!
