Changes For The Good June 17, 2020

The CoVid-19 Pandemic has changed our lives in many ways . . . and some of those ways are good for us.
We’re shopping less and exercising more. We’re eating out less and doing more home cooking. We’re taking time to slow down and spend more time in nature . . . right in our own backyards!
Best of all?
Many of us plan to hang on to those changes even after the current pandemic ends.

Aah . . . that’s better!

Thank you for this ray of positive thinking. You are so right. Nature is teaching us a harsh lesson. We need to slow down and honor the expressions of beauty and serenity that are the basics of a good life.
I tend to look for the silver linings . . . especially on the darkest days. This has been such a tough year for so many.
Here’s to brighter days ahead.
Your raised garden looks beautiful, Nancy!
Alas, that raised bed garden is not in our backyard. It’s located in downtown Bradenton at the Bishop Museum of Science & Nature.
But we have lemons growing in abundance in our courtyard.
Have a healthy week, Jill!
Well, I’m sure you could make one just as beautiful, Nancy. Oh, I love lemons!
We had a raised bed garden in Winston-Salem that was full of beautiful tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, basil, cucumbers. YUM!
I’d like to figure out how to have a garden here, but we don’t have any southern exposure . . . unless I made it a rooftop garden (which might just run afoul of the HOA regs.).
Lemons? Any favorite recipes for them?
I juice them and freeze the juice to use in all sorts of recipes. One of my favorite recipes for lemon juice is hummus.
Here are 100 other ways to use Meyer’s Lemons:

Unfortunately I can’t access the recipe without subscribing to the LA Times. Don’t you just hate that? Actually I was thinking of lemon meringue pie myself.
That’s interesting . . . I don’t have a subscription and could access it. BTW: It’s not a recipe. It’s a list of ways to use lemons for cooking & drinking.
You are so right! Love your garden!
Hiking, biking, walking, talking, grilling, chilling, seeding, weeding ~ so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors!
Absolutely! 🥰
Don’t forget all the extra time to nap!
I don’t nap often . . . but the occasional nap can be a life saver!
I’ve enjoyed the down time and chance to relax. Wish I could say I’ve been exercising and losing weight, but it’s been quite the opposite. All I do is cook and eat!
Extra weight is as welcome as a houseguest who decides to stay loitering about . . . for eva! So damn hard to kick to the curb!
I agree. We have ‘seen’ more of our family who live far from us through family Skypes every week. We have started reading stories to our Grandbaby twins in Barcelona via Skype and will continue both of these once it’s all over. Stay safe and sane! 🙂
That’s excellent, Sally.
We’ve started weekly ZOOM meetings for our extended family ~ I hope that they will continue for the indefinite future.
Yes, it’s not all bad. Extra time at home is so useful. 😃
This pandemic has been hard for many to traverse. If there’s a bright light, I like to ZOOM in on it.
This is so true, Nancy. Plus, our family have grown closer even though we are in different countries. During the state of Emergency when we were all in lockdown and not allowed out except for good reason our kids called us every day to make sure we were okay as they were also in lockdown. … it gave everyone a chance to slow down and appreciate the little things in life.
That’s good to hear, PIP. Here’s to the little things in life!
I agree that for some of us this pandemic has been an eye-opener about how we’ve been living. We’ve not eaten out for over 3 months now, cooking at home and we love it. Feel better, have more fun around mealtimes as we throw something together. That’ll be our new normal as we go forward.
Same here. We will eventually eat out again . . . but it will never be the norm for us.
Have a relaxing weekend!
Well said, Nancy! My family communicates more and also listens more! I have had friends who call when they go to the grocery store and ask if I need anything. I have experienced wonderful community even in a time of social distancing..
Excellent to hear, LM. It’s good when something that is “keeping us apart” is also bringing us closer together!
