Put A Lid On It! May 9, 2020

Friday’s Super Short Stories over at Nuggets of Gold got me thinking:
Why don’t apes and chimpanzees and monkeys (our closest relatives) need periodic trims?
What did people do before hairdressers and hair salons?
Home styling?
What did people do before the invention of scissors and razors?
Did they use their teeth?
Did they sharpen shells?
Maybe it didn’t matter in the days before cameras.
And selfies.
On a related note:
I think I’d like hair like a cat ~ always neat and tidy.
No fuss. No muss.
In the meantime, I’ll be like the Cat in that Hat . . .
And put a lid on it!
Aah . . . that’s better!

You should be in pony tail realm soon!
There’s an idea! I can revert back to my teen years . . . sleep all day, party all night, and resist authority!
Isn’t that what you already do? Maybe not party ALL night.
Haha! I’ve still got “it.”
LOL!! Glad I could inspire you! Does make you wonder? 😃
Thanks for inspiring me, Carolyn. My muse is absent so I’ll hitchhike off your amusing muse.
You are welcome to anytime Nancy! 🙂
It’s the only acceptable form of hitchhiking during a pandemic!
OMG! That four stages of quarantine is hilarious! 🙂
I stole that from Carolyn too!
On the one hand: I’m enjoying this holiday from the hairdresser. My hair is doing what it naturally wants to do. I like the abundance of it. I even bought a pretty barrette to keep it out of my eyes when I sweep.
On the other hand, I miss Lindsey. We always had such nice talks while she was cutting my hair.
Maybe you and Lindsey will put your heads together again some day . . . and figure out an “abundant do” for you, Nicki. Then you can share the before and after with us!
Good question. I suspect our ancestors had their ways of grooming, but I doubt that it was their first thought upon rising in the morning. 🤔
Agreed. They probably ignored their appearance in favor of sustenance and survival.
First thought on waking ~> “Me Hungry.”
Hahahaha! Loved the 4 stages of quarantine 😆
That’s my favorite quarantine meme (borrowed from Carolyn at Nuggets of Gold) ~> I’m at stage 3, but the way I dove into a bag of Doritos last night . . . stage 4 is just around the bend.
😆
I’ve never seen so many people with hair cut by spouses or even children. On Zoom last week, a friend showed the haircut his twelve-year-old gave him.
I’m surprised that people look as good as they do ~ I would have thought that we’d be looking like Neanderthals by now. 😛
Very funny about the hair, Nancy. The last few mornings I look in the mirror and I see “Darlene” from “Ozark.” Scary. Not sure whether you watched this series. Great reminder on the hat. I shall make sure to get my cap out from the closet. A pony tail and I am all set to go. Thanks for making me smile.🙂
I just googled Darlene from Ozark ~> hands down, you’ve got a better smile! 😛
Pony tails and braids are a great way to weather a pandemic.
Funny pictures
Glad you enjoyed. Stay well!
I only WISH I had hair like a cat. Right now I have hair down to my you-know-what. That style looked great on me when I was 18. Now???? I’m a kitty cat in a hat every day. 🙂
I’ve resorted to giving myself “home haircuts” a few times. Sometimes they turn out better than other times. 😛
I tried it for my bangs, but the only scissors I had were for toenails. :-0 🙂
Well . . . that’s not going to work! Neither will those kid’s scissors that can barely cut paper.
I recommend craft scissors or sewing scissors.
Poor Mona Lisa. 😦 No way am I going to try a home haircut on myself. I really envy cats and birds who never seem to have a bad hair day. Maybe a few ruffled feathers on the birds, but that only makes them look cuter. 🙂
Yes! Birds are always well-coiffed.
