A Spot of Humor April 21, 2020

Late-night comedy:

After protesters called for the end of stay-at-home orders, Jimmy Kimmel said, “It’s like if the Titanic was headed towards the iceberg, and half of the passengers were like, ‘Can you please speed this thing up?’”

Opening up too soon = surrendering to the virus.

Stay well by staying well apart from others.

Aah . . . that’s better!

Very true! 😀

nrhatch - April 21, 2020

It seems so obvious . . . yet some seem so oblivious.

2. Ally Bean - April 21, 2020

Yes it is.

nrhatch - April 21, 2020

Even when the country opens up . . . I won’t rush at it with open palms!

3. Rivergirl - April 21, 2020

Playing loose and free with your own life is one thing. Putting others in danger is just wrong.

nrhatch - April 21, 2020

My favorite was the woman who wanted the world to open up so she could get her hair and nails done.

Hmm . . . I wonder if any of the passengers on the Titanic tried for one last visit to the beauty salon?

Rivergirl - April 21, 2020

While I understand the desire for a manicure… I had to take off what was left of my acrylics and believe me, it’s not pretty….. I’m not willing to risk my life for vanity.

A very accurate analogy, Nancy. Slow and steady wins the race. 🙂

Haring around = hare-brained!

5. Kate Crimmins - April 21, 2020

I’ve seen a lot of comparisons to the Titanic. Here is one from Colin and Ray https://meandray.com/2020/04/21/trump-analogy/

Fabulous! Thanks, Kate.

How did it go today?

Kate Crimmins - April 21, 2020

Not great. She is diabetic. Didn’t show up in September but today’s blood work showed it.

nrhatch - April 21, 2020

Sorry, Kate. I know that you dealt with Jake’s diabetes like a pro . . . but that doesn’t make it any easier.

6. Jill Weatherholt - April 21, 2020

I could work from home until I retire.😉

nrhatch - April 21, 2020

I’m not anxious to jump back into the fray ~ social distancing keeps the virus at bay!

Nancy, I am a huge fan of Jimmy Kimmel. My guilty pleasure since the ‘Double rainbow’ episode many years ago. We are pretty lucky in our neck of the woods and most people are respectful and “staying well apart.” Yet, we can see how our planet is in this together. Some supposedly smart people just do not get it. Definitely frustrating.

nrhatch - April 23, 2020

Thanks, Erica. People around here are (for the most part) following CDC guidelines, but some elected officials seem to be in a rush to open things up. And the protesters in several states are pushing them to do just that.

Let’s hope we don’t end up in the midst of an even worse economic & health crisis as a result. Stay well!

Erica/Erika - April 24, 2020

I am hesitant to press the “like” yet I support your thoughts. Take care.

So true, Nancy. We can’t hurry this thing up but we can dream of better times ahead.

nrhatch - May 3, 2020

Exactly! This too shall pass . . . and, when it does, we might even recognize the landscape of our lives. 😀

Stay well!

9. cuhome - June 29, 2020

This really made me laugh — and we all need a laugh, especially right now! Thank you!

nrhatch - June 29, 2020

Excellent! A day without laughter is a day wasted. 😀
