I’m Late . . . For An Important Date! March 14, 2020

Amid all the Alerts and Assurances I received yesterday about CoVid-19, I received a reminder about one of my favorite dates of the year ~ Friday the 13th! The e-mail came from Speak’s Clam Bar and said, inter alia:
Looking back to the origin of legends about Friday the 13th, we can find that these days were first regarded as special, not unlucky. The day itself, Friday, was associated with good fortune and is the day that the Sabbath starts. And the number 13 represents the essence and power of a Goddess, because it corresponds perfectly with the number of lunar cycles in a year and therefore the number of fertility cycles for a woman.
Friday the 13th was meant to be a celebration of our lives and the Goddesses bringing their luck to us. When the chance comes that these lucky numbers show up, we are meant to count our blessings.
Today let’s count our blessings ~ a good meal, someone in our life to laugh with, beautiful beaches, trees, mountains, flowers, etc.
Aah . . . that’s better!
My 13th was uneventful and that’s fine with me.
I had a good day . . . punctuated by e-mails from every type of business we do business with . . . assuring us that they were taking appropriate precautions to deal with Corona Virus.
Among others, I heard from Panera, AAA, Allstate, Fresh Market, SunTrust, Landry, Einstein Bagels, FP&L, LensCrafters, National Trust, W&M, the National Trust for Historic Places, the local theatre, Universal, CVS, USC, our HOA, etc.
I’m glad everyone’s on top of things!
I got those too. The only one that troubled me was that Starbucks would consider closing. Maybe I should buy an espresso machine! 🙂
Hope for your sake that it doesn’t come to that, but you might enjoy a new toy for the kitchen . . . especially on cold snowy mornings!
Perhaps the day is unlucky for some men, when a woman misses her cycle.
And lucky for others anxious to pass on their genes!
Everywhere seemed extra quiet yesterday. It was great. 😃
Our only glitch ~ we weren’t able to complete our weekly grocery shopping at Publix because they were out of:
Carrots (except one 25 lb. bag) ~ no 1, 2, or 5 lb. bags avail.
Potatoes (except individually wrapped baking potatoes)
Bananas (except plantains, which aren’t very good on cereal)
Toilet Paper ~ not a single roll
Tissues ~ not a single box
Almond Milk ~ no unsweetened original in SILK, Almond Breeze, or store brand
Etc.
But we have plenty of food even without these staples. 😀
Where have all the loo rolls gone, long time passing? 🎼🎻
Anxious folks squirreled them away in their hobbit holes! 😀
A great way to look at it! 🙂
Friday the 13th is always a lucky day for me . . . and I see you like “13” too JR13!
Yes I do! My husband proposed to me with 13 roses. 🙂
Perfect!
My Friday the 13th was great. After work I spent time with my mother. 🙂
Nice. I miss mom and dad. Time travel would be a great way to re-visit our special people from times past.
I know you do, Nancy.❤️
I actually didn’t know it’s origins. Thanks for that!
It was news to me too . . . now I like Friday the 13th twice as much.
I’ve always like the number 13 so I’m good about taking Friday the 13th in stride. Still I’ll now associate it with The Donald and his rambling nonsense, so that makes me sad. A good day for me personally, a lousy day for the country. Talk about cognitive dissonance!
It’s OK to focus on the beautiful sky between the gray clouds of rambling nonsense. 😆
Yes it is! Would that more folks would do that.
My new greeting (when passing people at a safe distance of 6 feet or so) is . . . Stay Well!
The number of lunar cycles. Hmm. I never thought of that.
My mother’s birthday is June 13. So it’s a good number for me, and I had a good day on Friday.
Excellent. Hope your “good luck” continues through the weekend, Nicki.
Counting our blessings … so simple. So right. Thank you Nancy 💕
Breathe. Aah . . . that’s better!
I made the mistake of going to the grocery store for my usual groceries on Friday and was greeted by a mad stampede for paper goods. I left the store very unsettled.
Our paper goods aisle is a ghost town of empty shelves and has been for days.
It can be very unsettling, especially if we try to see what’s coming around the bend. The more we stay in THIS moment, the better.
