Do you remember Jack Davis?
We didn’t recognize his name, but as we walked around the exhibit at Ringling College, his work rang a bell.
His cartoons and caricatures have appeared on the covers of TIME and TV Guide, and in Playboy and MAD Magazines.
Go team!
Aah . . . that’s talent!

A really wonderful talent. These made me smile. 😃
Me too! His work is exuberant and full of life.
I don’t remember the name nor do I recognize his work. So many talented people out there, aren’t there?
I recognized a number of his specific covers from TIME and TV Guide ~ talk about working on a deadline. He usually had about 2 days from inception to completion.
So much talent…I can’t even draw a stick person.
Most of the people I’ve drawn remained anonymous ~ the drawings look like people . . . but not THE person in question!
Yes, I remember him, because back in the day, I regularly read MAD Magazine. 😀 What a lovely exhibit.
You would have loved the exhibit ~> lots of stuff around from his MAD magazine days.
Ah talent! Amazing!
Can you imagine how much fun you would have drawing and sharing caricatures of the characters you encounter on your travels round town? The Starbucks baristas and the gym goers and the snooty salesladies, etc.
You wouldn’t recognize them!
Same here . . . but if I had Jack’s talent, it would be endlessly amusing. So much so, that you’d have to pray the sketch pad from my hands!
Good stuff! And artists who use humor in their work often don’t get the kudos or praise that they should. Jack Davis was extremely talented.
That sports fan makes me want to pop some popcorn and tune in to a game. Any game.
True – in this art work we see the joy of rooting for a team. 🙂
RAH! Go Madre!
Interesting exhibit! I didn’t know Jack Davis by name, but I’m sure I recognize his work! What fun!
We recognized a number of his TV Guide covers . . . and also his TIME political covers. Amazing & fun talent.
I would have loved to have seen it.
Fun exhibit highlighting a talented artist. Stay well!
