That’s Funny! September 7, 2019

A 100 watt ultraviolet light bulb.

Knock Knock jokes . . .

Light bulbs jokes . . .

Whether they seem funny often depends upon whether your sense of humor is screwed in tight or missing a screw.

Q. How many Psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?

Laughing at silly jokes requires that you allow your funny bone to be tickled.

When you have a choice between laughing and taking offense . . . which do you choose?

I choose laughter.

Every time.

Q. How many Psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?

A: Only one, but the bulb has to really WANT to change.

Aah . . . that’s better!

1. Tippy Gnu - September 7, 2019

Good for you. I choose to take offense, and then tell an offensive joke in return. Two mutually-offended people can be really funny.

nrhatch - September 7, 2019

That’s going to be my new Plan B. 😀

2. joyroses13 - September 7, 2019

Laughter is the safest stress reliever out there. No worries about getting addicted! Well the beach is a safe stress reliever too!! I will have both next week! 🙂😎🌊

nrhatch - September 7, 2019

Oh, wonderful! Hope the water, waves, and sky entrance you from sunrise to sunset . . . and that all your favorite “beach treats” are within reach!

joyroses13 - September 7, 2019

You are so sweet, thank you, I am sure I will be entranced! 😎😎💜

nrhatch - September 7, 2019

What are your favorite “beach treats”? Carvel Ice Cream on the drive home was BIG in my teens. Later, pizza and fries. Or custard. Or lobster rolls.

I’m guessing one of your faves is chocolate fudge. Am I close?

joyroses13 - September 7, 2019

LOL! Wow you know me! Gotta have the fudge and the boardwalk fries and my friend brings the wine, so we have it made! 😊😊🥂

nrhatch - September 7, 2019

And a BIG cup of coffee to keep you company during the sunrise, right? You can’t disappoint Tippy. 🙄

joyroses13 - September 7, 2019

LOL! Yes, can’t disappoint! 😃

3. Jill Weatherholt - September 7, 2019

Laughter…for sure! 🙂 Hey, when does This is Us start?

nrhatch - September 7, 2019

Per Google ~> The next chapter of the Emmy-nominated drama begins with an unforgettable premiere event . . . on 9/24.

I stopped watching after Season 2 because it made me maudlin and the status remained quo. Plus, the characters seemed more inclined to “taking offense” (or whining) than laughing.

Jill Weatherholt - September 7, 2019

Thanks for the update. I do agree about the whining! Maybe they should have called it quits after Season 1.

nrhatch - September 7, 2019

Maybe this year they’ll turn over a new lease on life!

4. Prior... - September 7, 2019

very fun

nrhatch - September 7, 2019

What’s your favorite knock knock or light bulb joke?

Prior... - September 8, 2019

I don’t really have very many jokes in my suitcase here – ha
but my favorite 3rd grade joke is
why was the math book upset?
he had too many problems –

nrhatch - September 8, 2019

Thanks for the smile!

5. Kate Crimmins - September 8, 2019

Sometimes laughter is the only way to deal with something or you will jump off a bridge!

nrhatch - September 8, 2019

I spend a large percentage of my days laughing at the foibles and follies of fellow beings. People are such silly rabbits!

6. Val Boyko - September 8, 2019

Thanks for the chuckle Nancy’s. Always appreciated 💛

nrhatch - September 9, 2019

I wonder why so many people are slow to laugh and quick to anger? I’m just the opposite.

7. colonialist - September 8, 2019

De light fool!

nrhatch - September 9, 2019

Excellent, Col!

8. Debra - September 8, 2019

That’s a great lightbulb joke, Nancy. Or is it a psychiatrist joke? LOL! I hope I always choose to laugh. I think I do…I do make plenty of errors and mistakes so it seems like laughter is then eat way to go!

nrhatch - September 9, 2019

Laughing at mistakes and letting them go is a solid plan, Debra!

Some folks are so serious and “uptight” about minor mistakes and infractions (hurts and slights). I am prone to laughing off errors and omissions ~ my own and those of others. We’re all a bunch of monkeys playing a game of craps . . . we might as well enjoy ourselves while we’re here.

9. L. Marie - September 9, 2019

I love knock knock jokes. 😊 When my niece and nephew were small, they were amused by them for hours! They still laugh at them. I do too. 😊

nrhatch - September 9, 2019

My favorite:

Knock Knock
Who’s there?
Boo who?
Don’t cry, it’s only a joke. 😀

roughwighting - September 10, 2019

Ohhh, thank you! I’m going to use this for my high school character (next book). THANKS! 🙂 🙂 🙂

nrhatch - September 10, 2019

You’re welcome! It’s classic.
And what a fun idea for your next book.

10. Ally Bean - September 9, 2019

I chose laughter about 90% of the time. And for that conscious decision I’ve been told that I’m too happy. Damned if I do, damned if I don’t, I suppose.

nrhatch - September 9, 2019

Being accused of being “too happy” = a good thing!

Ally Bean - September 9, 2019

Well, maybe… my accusers’ tones of voice suggested they felt otherwise…

nrhatch - September 9, 2019

Then they iz stupid. 😛

roughwighting - September 10, 2019

I’m accused of that too – what a weird accusation! Let’s keep on smilin’, friends. xoxox

nrhatch - September 10, 2019

Yes! When people look at us askance (for being too happy, too amused, too merry, etc.), we shall just smile and wave.

roughwighting - September 10, 2019

11. anotherday2paradise - September 9, 2019

I do love a good laugh and when I meet a totally humorless person, I always find myself wondering what went wrong in their lives to make them so.

nrhatch - September 9, 2019

Same here, Sylvia. But I also challenge myself to make them LAUGH . . . or, at least, smile. 😀

anotherday2paradise - September 10, 2019

I also try, but sometimes fail dismally. They just look at me as though I’m insane. 🙂

nrhatch - September 10, 2019

It doesn’t always work, but when it does . . . it’s like watching Scrooge wake up on Christmas morn and realize what he’s been missing. Magic!

12. Behind the Story - September 10, 2019

Changing a light bulb is such a good format for a joke. It’s amazing how many ways it’s been used. Thank goodness for the comics and the joke writers.

nrhatch - September 10, 2019

Agreed! May they keep us laughing in the aisles for millennia!

13. roughwighting - September 10, 2019

Sharing this joke with a psychiatrist friend of mine (and a therapist friend – just changing “psychiatrist’ to ‘therapist.’) 🙂 Long, long ago I stopped taking offense, realizing that usually the offender is the one with problems. Laughing is much better for the brain/psyche than anger or bitterness.
For some reason, I love knock knock jokes. In the novel I’m working on, one of my characters (a high school kid) uses them as entertainment and for attention. It’s fun to find good ones to use. :-0

nrhatch - September 10, 2019

Laughter is the best! It’s buoyant, healing, stress-relieving, etc. My sense of humor is my life preserver . . . without it, I’d drown.

That will be a fun book to work on. Enjoy the research!
