Life Improves With Laughter June 15, 2019

Stressed out?

Find something to laugh about.

Yup.  It can even be something silly.

Laughter is the yin to stress’s yang . . . counterbalancing many of the nasty negative effects of stress.

Plus, laughing feels good.

“We do not laugh because we are happy . . . we are happy because we laugh.”

Aah . . . that’s better!

“When we laugh, we’re in a happy place,” he says. “That’s always a good thing.” Yes it is! Great article…thanks for sharing, Nancy!

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Have a bright and happy weekend, Jill. Congrats on your upcoming release.

Jill Weatherholt - June 15, 2019

Thanks, Nancy! I might have to watch some old I Love Lucy episodes to go to my happy place. 🙂

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

I’m watching golf . . . it takes me to my sleepy place!

2. David Davis - June 15, 2019

It really is a medicine.

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Yes! And one which provides almost instantaneous benefits with NO side effects . . . except for the occasional “look” when someone else isn’t in on the joke. 🙄

3. Saania2806 - June 15, 2019

Laughter is the best medicine 🤗

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Yes! It’s FREE and EASY! Looking for laughter in life is a good habit to develop.

I’m pretty sure it releases some happy juices in the body and makes your wrinkles less prominent!

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Wrinkles? What wrinkles? Those are laugh lines!!!

5. joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

This post is absolutely correct and the article! 🙂
Laughter is a wonderful gift and sooo thankful for it! It totally helps you get through the stresses of life and it’s just plain down FUN, it’s not just kids that should be silly! 🙃🙃🤗🤗😀

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

One reason young kids are such a treat to be around is that they are not self-conscious about being silly and, better still, their silliness is contagious (as long as we’re willing to catch it). 😛

Here’s to tapping into the mirth within!

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

Cheers to silliness! 🙂

I asked for a discount at a store, and they laughed at me. I asked my wife for a favor, and she couldn’t stop chuckling for a half hour. I told my dogs to get off my couch, and even they started snickering. And they all seemed to be feeling better afterward. I think I ought to start charging everyone for my medical services.

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

You should! Then you could afford those Laugh Yoga classes you’ve been considering!

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

You raise such a good point! I been trying to charge for my medical services for a long time now, please let me know if you have success! For just recently I do recall asking a certain person for some payment for the laughter “entertainment” that I provided, but alas, I am still waiting for the money!
I guess while I wait, I will join your wife and your dog in their laughter. 🙂

Tippy Gnu - June 15, 2019

Boy, now I’m laughing. Oh I’m sure that certain person has paid you. The check probably just got lost in the mail. Call the post office. Hehehehehee.

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

Haha!! You are welcome for the laugh and hmmm….I am thinking it won’t do any good for me to call the post office, but that’s okay…I am calculating the interest in my head for when the check finally arrives! 😛

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

Hopefully that check comes soon. Could use it for our vacation fund. 🙂

Tippy Gnu - June 15, 2019

Well if worse comes to worse, you can always take your vacation on a Greyhound bus, rather than Amtrak. No biggie.

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

That may not be quite as exciting and not sure about the bus being able to go through the Canadian Rockies. That’s where Nancy says we are going . 🙂

Tippy Gnu - June 15, 2019

Nancy? So she’s going with you? I wanna go.

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

Do you have your passport? No, she is not going , she is just looking through her crystal ball and trying to guess where we are going. 🙂

Tippy Gnu - June 15, 2019

Yes, I have a passport. Where’s that train taking us? Europe? Australia? Alabama? I love all those foreign destinations.

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

Alabama? Yes, that is quite the foreign destination! LOL!
Hmm….Europe is wonderful and always wanted to go to Australia, yeah, guess I gave a little hint with the word passport, but one can go many places with a passport! 🙂

Tippy Gnu - June 15, 2019

Passport does lead me to think you’re going to Canada. I doubt Mexico, as it’s too far away. So here’s my final answer: You’re taking the Amtrak to Canada, and then getting on another train (Cantrack?) and touring the Maritime Provinces.

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

Hmmm….You will find out if your clever or not. Stay tuned. 🙂

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Within the unique world of rail travel, Rocky Mountaineer is so much more than just a train; it’s your key to unlocking a hidden world of unparalleled beauty as you carve through otherwise inaccessible terrain in the Canadian Rockies and get a firsthand look at roaming wildlife, tumbling waterfalls and snowcapped mountain peaks while enjoying world-class cuisine and unmatched service.

Sign me up!

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

You should be a travel agent! 😀

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

I might have pilfered/ purloined/ paraphrased the description from a AAA Travel Site. 😀

joyroses13 - June 15, 2019

“Stolen” LOL! 😀😀

7. L. Marie - June 15, 2019

So true! It’s good to laugh! I’ve been enjoying THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW through Netflix. Not exactly a comedy, but it makes me laugh and also relaxes me. 😊

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Sounds like just the thing, LM! Watching baking shows makes BFF drool. 😛

8. Val Boyko - June 15, 2019

The best medicine ever!!! Thanks for the reminder Nancy 💛🥳💛

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Here’s to laughter inducing moments all around!

9. Behind the Story - June 15, 2019

This past week I’ve been watching a series that makes me laugh every time: the Amazon Prime version of Vanity Faire. Obviously there are some down moments, but the humorous moments find their way in.

I found someone to work on my blog problem. Maybe it will work tomorrow. Let’s hope.

nrhatch - June 15, 2019

Good luck! I’ll keep my fingers crossed, Nicki.

10. Debra - June 17, 2019

“We do not laugh because we are happy . . . we are happy because we laugh.” What a wonderful quote and perspective. I think being around kids and pets does help give me a frequent dose of humor. 🙂

nrhatch - June 17, 2019

Yes! You picked two of my favorite smile inducers ~ kids, puppies, kittens, bunnies.

11. roughwighting - June 18, 2019

it’s amazing how ‘difficult’ laughing can be in the middle of a stressful day. Great article – and yes, we should all be encouraged to let out a belly laugh – lots. I tend to smile at anyone I meet (most I don’t know). I get many scowls back. How sad. I want to say, RELAX. LAUGH!!

nrhatch - June 18, 2019

Good for you. Laughter is a great stress reliever. I love making people laugh out loud!

roughwighting - June 19, 2019

And I bet you’re good at it! xo

nrhatch - June 19, 2019

I should be ~> I practice every day!

12. Ally Bean - June 19, 2019

I sometimes find that I want to laugh more, be sillier, when I’m around uptight people. I feel this weird need to balance out their negativity with some positivity. Counterbalancing in real time, as it were.

nrhatch - June 19, 2019

Me too! When I meet up with a grouch, I love to leave him/her with a smile!
