Have you been watching James Holzhauer as he wows audiences on Jeopardy?
He’s got a photographic memory AND he’s a professional sports gambler who quick with the clicker ~> a lethal combination, especially when combined with his killer smile!
And he’s fearless!
When he lands on a Double Jeopardy, he calmly pushes it “All In” . . . doubling his score.
After 17 appearances, James has won $1,275,587 and he’s still going strong.
To put his performance in context, Ken Jennings won $2.5 million in regular games back in 2004 ~ but it took him 75 games to get there.
Before James, the single highest one day win totaled $77,000.
James has surpassed that record . . . 8 times!
His highest one day total to date ~ $131,127.
Aah . . . that’s amazing!

He’s amazing to watch.
I’ve had a few evening engagements that pre-empted watching Jeopardy! ~ I hated to miss it!
We tape it and watch it a day later. The bad news is that he’s become such a phenomenon that one way or the other we end up knowing that he won before we watch it. Still better without commercials!
No commercials = GOOD!
Amazing is the word alright to describe him and I think the producers are shaking their heads watching their money go bye bye. LOL!
Well, Alex earns $12 million a year ~> maybe they can take it out of his salary? 😆
Haha!
I haven’t watched Jeopardy in years… but I’ve heard about this guy. Amazing!
If you’re around when it’s on, settle in with a refreshing adult beverage and prepare to be wowed!
You know we’ve been watching him, Nancy. Smart and cute, what’s not to like! 🙂
I pictured you watching him win on Jeopardy! as I typed this post . . . 😀
We’ve had to DVR him a few times…can’t miss out! I told Derek, it be terrible to have been trying to be a contestant for years and then you have to go up against James! Aye!
Since the episodes are filmed months in advance, they arrive in ignorant bliss . . . and in the Green Room they are introduced to their opponents:
“This is Jack. He’s appearing for the first time with you. And you both will be facing James Holzhauer, our current champion with 17 appearances under his belt and average winnings of more than $75,000 a day.”
{{GULP!!!}}
If I competed against him, I’d be in Jeopardy: Who is James Holzhauer.
He Is A . . . UNICORN!
Wrong. You’re supposed to answer with a question.
I was reading you the clue for your answer ~> “Who is James Holzhauer?”
Never heard of him before now. No wonder he has a captive following!
He’s a recent phenomenon ~ unknown until 3.5 weeks ago. Does Jeopardy! broadcast in SA?
Not that I have ever come across.
Jeopardy! is a treat ~ a trivia show which isn’t trivial.
I’ve only heard about him. His adrenaline must be extremely high!
If you have a chance to tune in, take a peek. Or you could view one of several youtube clips featuring James’ “finesse” and “panache.”
I wonder. Where does Jeopardy get all the money to pay that much to him and all the winners?
From the advertisers and sponsors . . .
If that’s the amount of money they’re paying, the advertisers and sponsors might be putting themselves out of business very soon.
I doubt they’re in “jeopardy” of going out of business anytime soon ~> Alex earns $12 million a year just for reading the clues . . . it’s a safe bet that Jeopardy! is a money-maker! 😛
I haven’t actually seen him in action, but I’ve been hearing of his successes! I’m so impressed with anyone that bright, first of all, but then to be able to recall so much information under the pressure that accompanies a competition, is even more incredible to me! His poor competitors don’t stand a chance, I’d think!
Yup. Not a chance! A neighbor refers to his unsuspecting opponents as “sitting ducks” and/or “lambs to the slaughter.” 😛
We missed it last night since we were having dinner at a friend’s house. Looking forward to seeing him compete tonight.
