Lotsa Lobster! November 7, 2018

Posted by nrhatch in Food & Drink, Humor, Vegetarian Recipes.

As it does every October, BFF’s birthday rolled into view.

Since I’m NOT a shopper . . . I knew just what to do.

Instead of one lobster lunch, I’d get him two!

A few days before his birthday, we headed to the Anna Maria Oyster Bar for lobster al fresco at  the Bridge Street Pier.  The lobsters served at AMOB arrive “deconstructed” which makes them very “eater friendly.”

And the lobster bib is a great fashion statement . . . that doubles as a poncho if it rains!

But man cannot live by lobster alone.  And neither can the birthday boy.

On BFF’s birthday proper, we headed to Bonefish Grill for Hooked on Tuesdays where we both ordered the 3-course lobster tail dinner.  I started with the house salad which included hearts of palm.

BFF opted for a standard Caesar Salad.

Our lobster tails came with a choice of sides and individual ramekins of butter because . . . lobster + butter = perfect together!

BFF enjoyed potatoes au gratin and a loaf of hot from the oven bread.

Feeling fabulously full, we requested our desserts ~ a flourless brownie and a slice of coconut custard pie ~ to go.  But, as everyone knows, you cannot put ice cream with raspberry sauce in a “To Go” bag, so we ate it in situ.

A sweet ending to a fun (and filling) birthday lunch.

BONUS:  When our server found out that it was BFF’s birthday, she brought him a present ~> a box of 4 chocolate truffles!  Score!

Aah . . . that’s better!

Deconstructed lobster! Where’s the fun in that?
While the final tail looks tasty, that first bug looked rather small!

Deconstructed lobster works for me ~ especially when the lobster is on the small side. When I’m hooked up with a 2 pounder, I’ll happily wrestle with it before eating. 😆

Lobster! The greatest gift of all! Happy birthday to BFF!

nrhatch - November 7, 2018

Thanks, Jill. We don’t order lobster often, so it’s always a treat. BFF enjoyed both of his birthday lobsters.

3. Ally Bean - November 7, 2018

I’m not all that crazy about lobster, but your photos and description made me drool. It looks like a lovely way to celebrate a birthday, a very happy one at that.

Seafood used to be a much bigger part of my life. We eat it less and less often . . . but lobster can still be a hit on my parade!

BFF enjoyed himself and LOVED taking home TWO desserts. 😀

Yum = good sum up!

5. L. Marie - November 7, 2018

My kinda meals!! Yum! Wish I could have tagged along both times!
Happy birthday to BFF!

nrhatch - November 7, 2018

That would have made it even more fun! I’ll pass along your good wishes, LM.

6. Rainee - November 7, 2018

That looks like a meal from heaven!

nrhatch - November 7, 2018

We don’t eat out often and, when we do, we don’t always enjoy it more than eating our own home cooking. These lobster lunches were both delish!

7. Tippy Gnu - November 7, 2018

So it looks like your BFF got some tail for his birthday.

nrhatch - November 7, 2018

Mais oui!

Lobster is always my birthday choice too!

nrhatch - November 7, 2018

Growing up, we lived near the Jersey Shore. I always asked for lobster for my birthday dinner. (I didn’t always get it . . . )

Now look what you’ve made happen! I’ve drooled all over my keyboard!

nrhatch - November 7, 2018

Thanks for a smile inducing comment, Col. 😀

I’m salivating. Happy BelatedBirthday to BFF 👑

nrhatch - November 7, 2018

Thanks, Val! Tonight Coconut Curry is on the menu. 😀

Val Boyko - November 7, 2018

Sounds delicious 🤤

nrhatch - November 8, 2018

It turned out great . . . especially delicious with a sprinkle of coconut and peanuts on top. 😀

Now THAT’S what I call a good birthday gift. I live in NE so lobster is a given here (and I don’t tell anyone I don’t particularly care for lobster – sacrilegious around here). But deconstructed lobster – I could go for that! Or, you eat the lobster, I just chow on the dessert. :–)

nrhatch - November 10, 2018

Sacre bleu! That is sacrilegious . . . although I’ve heard tell that at one time prisoners were fed lobster so often, they revolted! 😀

roughwighting - November 11, 2018

There you go… 🙂 🙂

12. Debra - November 10, 2018

Score! is right! 🙂 What a lovely way to celebrate. I would rather have a good meal out than any other birthday gift!

nrhatch - November 10, 2018

Same here, Debra. Especially when the meal hits on all cylinders, like BFF’s “winner, winner, lobster dinner!” 😆

13. granny1947 - November 10, 2018

Thank you.
And, now I am hungry!

nrhatch - November 10, 2018

My work here is done! 😆
