Don’t Drink And . . . Die October 6, 2018

Posted by nrhatch in Food & Drink, Humor, Life Balance.

A few weeks back, while visiting family in Orlando, we had a late (vegetarian) lunch at Lone Star Steakhouse.

On the way out, I snapped a shot of this critter in the bar:

His message (which would be perfect for a Wordless Wednesday):

Don’t Drink And . . . Die!

Aah . . . that’s better!

Oh my. Nothing worse than a drunken armadillo!

nrhatch - October 6, 2018

Dead drunk armadillos => equal parts humorous and sobering!

2. Jill Weatherholt - October 6, 2018

LOL…that’s hilarious! Enjoy your weekend, Nancy!

nrhatch - October 6, 2018

Thanks, Jill. Hope your weekend overflows with all good things!

Sobering in a bar! Vegetarian? In a steakhouse? Hope they had good veggies!

We didn’t pick the restaurant, but it worked OK ~ delicious sides . . . and all the crack-your-own peanuts you wanted to eat.

I ordered a baked potato (huge!) and steamed broccoli.

I love a good baked potato but they are hard to find. Most are dried out. Sometimes steak houses have a good garden salad too.

nrhatch - October 6, 2018

Yes . . . BFF got a salad and shared some of it with me.

My “go to” at a steakhouse is a baked potato or a baked sweet potato ~ they’re super filling, I can ask for the butter and sour cream on the side, and they aren’t overly salted.

What a sobering message. And very true.

nrhatch - October 6, 2018

I wonder if it helps bar patrons “curb their enthusiasm”?

5. Tippy Gnu - October 6, 2018

So that’s why there are so many dead armadillos by the side of the road.

nrhatch - October 6, 2018

That’s it! Armadillos cannot hold their liquor!

6. mrbillydswritings - October 6, 2018

Good thing it wasn’t a skunk!

nrhatch - October 6, 2018

Good point!

At least a dead armadillo doesn’t get squashed flat. He’s actually quite pretty–minus the tail.

nrhatch - October 7, 2018

He prefers to be called “handsome.”

Clever way to deliver an important message! I’m impressed that you found a decent vegetarian meal in a steak house! Good for you!

nrhatch - October 9, 2018

Going out to eat and ordering a baked potato and steamed broccoli (both so easy to fix at home) seems silly . . . but we didn’t pick the restaurant AND they filled me up.

Finding menu items that are both Gluten Free and Vegetarian can be a challenge! My “go to” ideas used to be pizza, cheese quesadillas, mac & cheese, and grilled cheese. And none of those options are gluten free. Now it’s either rice or potato dishes.
