“Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.”

~ William C. Dement

That’ll give you something to ponder as you nod off tonight.

Aah . . . that’s better!

Great quote, Nancy!

nrhatch - July 9, 2018

I love it. I bumped into it on a book about Sleeping ~ “Let’s Talk About Sleeping.”

2. roughwighting - July 9, 2018

That’s exactly what happens when I dream. And I must admit, I LOVE being safely crazy. xo

nrhatch - July 9, 2018

Some dreams are so WILD and CRAZY and NONSENSICAL. It’s a bit like traveling to Wonderland via a rabbit hole.

roughwighting - July 9, 2018

Better than a good novel, at times. ๐Ÿ™‚

nrhatch - July 9, 2018

Yes! Especially when the Mad Hatter (or the Hookah Smoking Caterpillar) makes an appearance. ๐Ÿ˜€

3. Rainee - July 9, 2018

Great quote Nancy! Certainly sums up my dreams!

nrhatch - July 9, 2018

Dreams can be great fun the way they run on and on from point A to point Z in a chaotic zig-zag shuffle through surreal landscapes.

4. Kate Crimmins - July 9, 2018

I’m not sure the crazy turns off when I wake up!

nrhatch - July 9, 2018

Haha!

Here’s to enjoying the crazy that lingers long after we wake! ๐Ÿ˜€

5. Tippy Gnu - July 9, 2018

That reminds me. It’s time for me to go crazy again.

nrhatch - July 9, 2018

Enjoy your visit to the land of Nod.
Sweet Dreams!

6. L. Marie - July 9, 2018

I’ve had a lot of spy dreams. I wonder what that says about me.

nrhatch - July 9, 2018

It means that Mata Hari (a/k/a Hello Kitty) will have you on her payroll in no time! ๐Ÿ˜€

7. Debra - July 10, 2018

I am headed to bed! I hope for good dreams. ๐Ÿ™‚ Nighty-night!

nrhatch - July 10, 2018

I don’t remember any dreams from last night ~ I hope I didn’t hurt their feelings by finding them so forgettable. ๐Ÿ˜€

8. Ally Bean - July 10, 2018

I thought that blogs were the place “to be quietly and safely insane.” Huh. ๐Ÿค”

nrhatch - July 10, 2018

Bwahaha! And “lucid blogging” is so much easier to achieve than lucid dreaming. ๐Ÿ˜€

9. William D'Andrea - July 12, 2018

Several years ago, I was suffering from severe back pain. My sister gave me some Extra Strength Tylenol tablets. On the box, one of the side effects listed was “Vivid dreams”. That’s just what I had.
I dreamt of giant dinosaurs rising up out of New York’s Central Park. They were a group triceratops; the three horned ones, with massive collars. Then a tyrannosaurus rose up. That’s when I woke up.
I’d never dreamt of dinosaurs before. I have no idea why I did.
Since then I’ve never taken any Extra Strength Tylenol tablets. I now occasionally use Aleve tablets, which give “strength to last 12 hours” and I don’t remember my dreams.

nrhatch - July 12, 2018

Cool dream, William. When I see a raccoon or possum or squirrel running around outside, I think how different the landscape would have ooked during the age of dinosaurs.

Imagine getting a cup of coffee, wandering over to the window, and being greeted by a brontosaurus or wooly mammoth or saber toothed tiger playing in the backyard!

William D'Andrea - July 12, 2018

That would be like living across the road from Jurassic Park. I’d be afraid to leave the house.

nrhatch - July 12, 2018

I’d be afraid that they’d step on the house! ๐Ÿ˜€
