No Smoking! June 30, 2018

While looking through some old files, I came across a sketch from high school.

I decided to send it to one of our artsy nieces . . . until BFF saw it and said, “I like that Seussian sculpture.”

So, instead of mailing it out to Colorado, I gave it to BFF.

Aah . . . that’s better!

I like it too, Nancy. Maybe you can make a copy and mail it to your niece. You did a great job with the man’s expression. Busted! Happy Saturday!

Thanks, Jill!
I told her I would leave it to her in my will. ๐Ÿ˜€

We are having a Happy Saturday. We just got back from another “well-timed” beach walk. We started feeling rain drops spitting on us as we walked back to the car from water’s edge but the sky didn’t open up until AFTER we were inside the car. Same thing happened yesterday. So YAY x 2!

Have a fun one!

That’s a great idea, Nancy. Hopefully it will be many years until she’s in possession. ๐Ÿ™‚ We can’t get a drop of rain. I just came in from watering the flowers and I was drenched, but it beats the cold. A walk on the beach sounds nice! ๐Ÿ™‚

We ended up with rain, rain, and more rain today. But we needed it (and it keeps the temps down), so no complaints.

I bet the flowers appreciated the drink!

Do you still sketch? Great job!

nrhatch - June 30, 2018

Thanks, JR13! I don’t sketch (or watercolor) much these days, but (while looking through the file of old sketches) I thought I might get back into it ~ it might amuse my muse. ๐Ÿ˜€

joyroses13 - June 30, 2018

I think you should!! ๐Ÿ™‚

nrhatch - June 30, 2018

I’m considering it ~ after all, if you’ve got access to pencil and paper, you’re in business! ๐Ÿ˜€

That’s a funny little cartoon. At the risk of encouraging you, I think it would be fun to see more of those.

nrhatch - June 30, 2018

Thanks, TG. Maybe artistic endeavor will be my next endeavor.

A couple weeks back, I rearranged my arts & craft supplies so they are “more accessible.” Maybe that (PLUS your comment!) will inspire me. ๐Ÿ˜€

4. Tiny - June 30, 2018

I like it too! Getting back to it might indeed amuse your muse. I have noticed that creativity flows in waves….and takes different forms at different times.

nrhatch - June 30, 2018

Thanks, Tiny. I spent hours sketching as a kid. I have at least as much time available now. I need only overcome “inertia.” ๐Ÿ˜€

5. L. Marie - June 30, 2018

I didn’t know you liked to draw, Nancy. That’s pretty cool!

nrhatch - June 30, 2018

I loved drawing (and other arts & crafts) up until the time I went to college. Then I got out of the “habit” except when sketching a scene to paint.

The nice thing about pencil sketches ~ not much needed in the way of supplies AND it’s a No Muss No Fuss hobby.

6. Tammy - June 30, 2018

You need to do more.

nrhatch - June 30, 2018

Thanks, Tammy. Painting and sketching are very relaxing . . . and they can be amusing as well. ๐Ÿ˜€

7. Behind the Story - July 1, 2018

I’m impressed with the originality of the sculpture.

I don’t sketch or paint anymore. I think about it every so often.

nrhatch - July 1, 2018

I expect that I used a printed cartoon as “inspiration” for the sculpture and the sketch. I tended to be a “copy cat” when it came to art in my teens. Not always, but often.

Count me as a fan of your artwork (especially your batiks!).

8. Val Boyko - July 1, 2018

Love the humor and the facial expression! I hope you muse is inspired ๐Ÿ’›

nrhatch - July 2, 2018

Thanks, Val.

I spent hours happily sketching away . . . back in the day.
Maybe it is time to invite my inner artist to come out to play.

9. Debra - July 1, 2018

Very clever and imaginative, Nancy. I have nothing in my files that will leave artwork for anyone! Lol! My children still tease me about the pictures I would draw while trying to keep them amused in waiting rooms back in the days when I couldnโ€™t hide behind an iPad or cellphone. Just me, a pencil and paper! Good memories but definitely pitiful artwork! You have talent! ๐Ÿ˜€

nrhatch - July 2, 2018

Thanks, Debra. But I would say you managed to do what you set out to do ~> not only did you keep them amused in waiting rooms back in the day . . . but they are still amused by your efforts! ๐Ÿ˜€

10. Ally Bean - July 2, 2018

Great sketch. Maybe you have another career in you as an illustrator?

nrhatch - July 2, 2018

Thanks! I’ll keep you posted on my progress, Ally. ๐Ÿ˜€
