Posted by nrhatch in Gratitude, Happiness, Health & Wellness.

May the best ye hae ivver seen be the warst ye’ll ivver see.
May the moose ne’er lea’ yer girnal wi a tear-drap in its ee.
May ye aye keep hail an hertie till ye’r auld eneuch tae dee.
May ye aye juist be sae happie as A wuss ye aye tae be.

The above, in translation, reads:

May the best you have ever seen be the worst you will ever see.
May the mouse never leave your grain store with a tear drop in its eye.
May you always stay hale and hearty until you are old enough to die.
May you still be as happy as I always wish you to be.

All the best in 2018!

1. Rainee - January 1, 2018

Happy New Year Nancy 🙂

nrhatch - January 1, 2018

Here’s to a year filled with magical moments & memories!

2. Kate Crimmins - January 1, 2018

Happy New Year! I was trying to think of a snappy comeback but I’m not snappy today. The weather, however, is a snappy 5. As I was yelling at my husband, “This is January weather!” he reminded me that it is January. As soon as we win this damn lottery, we’ll be buying a winter house somewhere near you! We’ll need a private plane to fly the cats down! Have a great day!

nrhatch - January 1, 2018

I hear ya! One of my college roommates has a private jet to ferry herself and her cats, dogs, and birds around. Dream Big!

Your January weather reminds me of the weather on the day we migrated south in 2009 ~> cold, gray, blustery, with a “snappy” windchill that seeped into your bones and took a foothold. I do NOT miss “January weather.”

Kate Crimmins - January 1, 2018

Me too!

nrhatch - January 1, 2018

What if you just rent down here for a month or two each winter? You can be a “snowbird” . . . and the cats will enjoy the excitement of packing and unpacking.

3. Tippy Gnu - January 1, 2018

I like the mouse reference. We are fortunate to live in a land and age of plenty. Happy New Year, Nancy!

nrhatch - January 1, 2018

We are fortunate:

Some hae meat and canna eat
And some wad eat that want it
But we hae meat and we can eat
Sae let the Lord be Thanket!

4. Jill Weatherholt - January 1, 2018

Happy New Year, Nancy! Do you have a spare room for your blogger friends who are up here freezing? It’s brutal!

nrhatch - January 1, 2018

Yes! We have a 2nd master with a private bath ~> c’mon down!

5. William D'Andrea - January 1, 2018

In your translation you say: “May you still be as happy as I always wish you to be.”
That makes me wonder. Just how happy do you always want me to be?
Happy New Year Nancy!

nrhatch - January 1, 2018

As happy as you can be!

6. L. Marie - January 1, 2018

Happy New Year! What a lovely blessing.

So cold here! I think we all want to crowd in your guest room!

nrhatch - January 1, 2018

We can have a Slumber Party! It’s 42 degrees here at the moment, though . . . so bring your flannel PJ’s!

7. Tiny - January 3, 2018

I wish you and BFF a wonderful 2018! May it bring many new adventures and lots of joy!

nrhatch - January 3, 2018

Thanks! Hope you have a wonderful reunion with Dylan and that you both are met with pleasant surprises throughout the year.

8. Debra - January 3, 2018

Right back to you, dear Nancy!

nrhatch - January 3, 2018

You must be in the warmest part of the country at the moment. It’s a brisk 43 degrees here tonight!

Debra - January 4, 2018

We are so warm in comparison I feel guilty! LOL! I called a good friend today in Virginia and promised her I would never again complain to her about our drought! We had a good laugh!

nrhatch - January 5, 2018

Most of the counties just to the North of us had FROST last night! With more promised for tonight. It’s chilly, willy!

9. Anne Lene @ MinimalistSometimes - January 9, 2018

Happy new year, Nancy. Loved the blessing, hope your year is filled with great adventures đź’•

nrhatch - January 9, 2018

Yes! Less stuff . . . more fabulous fun!
