Before leaving St. Pete, we drove up the waterfront to  the Palm Arboretum . . .

We wandered paths lined with hundreds of species of palms . . .

A sign indicated that the Arboretum houses 735 specimens . . .

Of all shapes and sizes . . .

Tall ones . . .

Short ones . . .

Round ones . . .

Stately ones . . .

Shapely ones . . .

Shy ones . . .

And shaggy ones (reminiscent of Cousin It on the Adams Family) . . .

Aah . . . that’s better!

It’s been on our radar to visit for ages . . . we enjoyed wandering its meandering paths through the palms.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Everything looks great. Not much hurricane damage.

Palms are pretty resilient in hurricane force winds since they tend to bend with the breeze . . . but we did lose plenty in our neighborhood. The park did great in dealing with Irma.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Happy Birthday to your hubby!

I love palm trees and have made it a point to only live where they grow. It’s amazing how many different varieties exist.

I’m with you, Tippy Gnu. Seeing palm trees is always a mood booster for me.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving filled with yummy stuff (and stuffing) for your tummy.

Thanks, Judith! Hope you’re enjoying the approach of summer down under . . . with lots of opportunities to get out & about.

We had a wonderful (and delicious) Thanksgiving with my sister’s family.

I do love palms! I’m not particularly partial to the ones that dot Southern California and are considered more iconic in photographs, but it’s many of the other species that I think are truly beautiful. I would imagine this arboretum would be a very enjoyable place to just walk around and enjoy! You make the most of your environment, and a lovely one it is! 🙂

It is a beautiful few acres to wander. Visitors can arrange for a guided tour . . . but learning about hundreds of different species of palms in the course of an afternoon seems more like work than play to me. We enjoyed just LOOKING without the LEARNING.
