Sandblast Sand Sculptures November 13, 2017

Posted by nrhatch in Art & Photography, Humor, Nature, Sustainable Living.

In Florida at this time of year, the weather is gorgeous.

And so are the mermaids on the beach . . .

Last week, we enjoyed sunset at the beach while admiring the Sandblast Sand Sculptures . . .

Here’s the Big Bad Wolf trying to huff and puff and blow down the Three Little Pigs brick house, to no avail . . .

The sculptures included a salute to Veteran’s Day . . .

And friendly lizards . . .

And environmentally conscious dogs . . .

Aah . . . that’s better!

Do you ever build castles in the sand?

Wow! They are so talented.

A professional sand carver (great gig if you can get it!) comes and gives lessons before the area schools compete for a prize. The most “polished” sculptures are done by the pro . . . but the kids do a great job too!

2. Jill Weatherholt - November 13, 2017

Sadly, my castles are never as spectacular as these. Thanks for sharing, Nancy.

nrhatch - November 13, 2017

Nor mine. I get a kick out of some of the sand sculptures we’ve seen ~ mermaids, alligators, snowmen, etc.

3. L. Marie - November 13, 2017

Amazing! Such detail!

nrhatch - November 13, 2017

It’s a fun event for the carvers whittling away at the sand . . . and for the beachgoers who get to enjoy their creativity.

I’ve never built a sand castle like that before. But I have had sand kicked in my face, at the beach.

Beaches can be quite sandy
And the sand can come in handy
But when it blows around
Swirling high above ground
Watch out if you have a mouth full of candy

Tippy Gnu - November 13, 2017

Nice limerick. Sounds like it may have been written from experience.

nrhatch - November 13, 2017

It was written just for YOU!

5. Behind the Story - November 14, 2017

Wonderful sand sculptures! Creativity in its many forms is alive and well in the most unusual places.

nrhatch - November 15, 2017

It’s good to let our creative sides out from time to time . . . and play!

6. Ally Bean - November 14, 2017

The Big Bad Wolf is cool. They all are, but that’s the one I like the best.

nrhatch - November 15, 2017

That was a fun exhibit, Ally. They also fashioned a open book out of sand and used sticky round briars to spell out “Once upon a time, there were three little pigs . . . “

7. Debra - November 15, 2017

I love to make sand castles with little children. That’s about the extent of my talent. LOL! These are exceptional, Nancy. True works of art!

nrhatch - November 15, 2017

We have seem some really creative sand sculptures on the beach. We haven’t tackled anything too “exceptional” ourselves. πŸ˜€

Love these sand sculptures! I missed our sand festival this year.

Make sure you show “Recycle Dog” to Dylan!

You’ve had quite a year . . . and now you’re house hunting in a new area which will offer up new vistas and horizons. Are you thinking about staying near a beach?

Tiny - November 19, 2017

I will be looking a few minutes from the beach, not right in the ‘front row’, and may very well end up with a different water view…sometime next spring.

nrhatch - November 19, 2017

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you and Dylan to find just the right place!

9. Anne Lene @ MinimalistSometimes - November 27, 2017

Wow. These are really good…

nrhatch - November 27, 2017

I’ll have to claim credit for one of them next year. πŸ˜‰

Anne Lene @ MinimalistSometimes - November 27, 2017

Is this a yearly thing? Then, yeah… you should give it a try… and I can join you.. although I’ll be in the toddler department, me being able to only stack buckets that is πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

nrhatch - November 27, 2017

You can help stack the buckets . . . I’ll even let you wield the trowel!
