Keep Calm . . . And Carry On September 19, 2017

Posted by nrhatch in Less IS More, Life Balance, Mindfulness.

When things are moving faster than desired . . .

Take a deep breath.

Relax the mind.

Allow calm to surface.

Contemplative quotes may also be an antidote to stress:

Have a mind that is open to everything and attached to nothing. ~ Tilopa

Less is more. ~ Robert Browning

Life is a progress, and not a station. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

To begin, begin. ~ William Wordsworth

Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors. ~ African Proverb

Kites rise against, not with, the wind. ~ John Neal

Let reality be reality. ~ Lao Tzu

Forever is composed of nows. ~ Emily Dickinson

So many great quotes…thanks, Nancy!

nrhatch - September 19, 2017

Morning, Jill! Hope your day is filled with happiness shared.

2. joyroses13 - September 19, 2017

Just getting ready to do my Tuesday’s quotes post. Enjoyed these quotes! Thanks for sharing!
“Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand!”
“Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you!”
Hope the shadows fall behind you today! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks, JR13! We just got back from our first walk on the beach since Irma blew through a week ago. Lots of seaweed . . . but the white sands still stretch for miles and miles.

3. Rainee - September 19, 2017

What a great anthology of wisdom! Thanks for sharing them Nancy. My favourite was…To begin, begin. ~ William Wordsworth

nrhatch - September 19, 2017

Yes! One step at a time . . . as the path unfolds before us.

4. Kate Crimmins - September 19, 2017

Good messages to have running in the background of your mind.

nrhatch - September 19, 2017

Exactly ~> an arsenal of antidotes to dis-ease!

5. Tippy Gnu - September 19, 2017

Quite a banquet of thoughts. I especially like the African proverb.

nrhatch - September 19, 2017

Yes! Sometimes all we have to do to reclaim our inner peace and calm is shift our perspective.

6. L. Marie - September 19, 2017

Thank you for those, Nancy!
I’m cutting words in a novel so I needed that Browning quote. ๐Ÿ˜€

nrhatch - September 19, 2017

There ya go! Good luck making the write right.

7. Pilgrim - September 19, 2017

Start of a school year, I need to read this and share with others. Oooommmmmm

nrhatch - September 20, 2017

Good luck with the shifting sands!

Pilgrim - September 20, 2017

Too funny, more of a quick sand if I am not careful

nrhatch - September 20, 2017

Aah . . . sinking sands!

8. Ally Bean - September 20, 2017

Would it be odd of me to admit that sometimes quotes intended to inspire make me mutter under my breath instead? All that positivity can be too much for me at times. I need a bit of grumbling in my quote life to feel balanced and whole! ๐Ÿ˜‰

nrhatch - September 20, 2017

So . . . no one would accuse you of subscribing to Pollyanna’s philosophy of life? ๐Ÿ˜€

Ally Bean - September 20, 2017

That is correct. I’m a positive person in general, but occasionally I like my specifics to be snarky.

nrhatch - September 21, 2017

Same here! Snarky is often the way to deal with the inanities of life.

9. Charles L. Shafer - September 20, 2017

If it weren’t for my sense of humor, I wouldn’t have any sense at all …

nrhatch - September 21, 2017

I view a sense of humor as an offshoot of “common sense” . . . so you got that going for you!

10. Val Boyko - September 21, 2017

So glad the beach is intact and life is getting back to normal. Inspirational quotes and mantras can take us through difficult times and allow us to continue in flow. ๐Ÿ’›

nrhatch - September 21, 2017

Yes! Even better than the beach ~> we’re having lunch tomorrow with my niece who faced Irma head-on in St. Marten.

After they fixed the runway on the island, she and her husband were evacuated to Puerto Rico and then to Chicago before flying home to FL for a visit this week before heading to the UK for Nate to finish medical school. She’s really had a WILD ride for the past few weeks . . . but she’s still in the flow.

Val Boyko - September 21, 2017

Wow – that really is some ride! So glad loved ones are safe right now. ๐Ÿ™

nrhatch - September 21, 2017

Me too! Looking forward to spending some time with them tomorrow.

11. Debra - September 28, 2017

I love the quote about being open to everything and attached to nothing! I think that’s worth a million!

nrhatch - September 29, 2017

That’s my favorite!

12. Naomi - October 3, 2017

So glad that you’re all safe there Nancy, and that your sense of humor is alive and kicking as always ๐Ÿ™‚ All the best to you and yours! XO

nrhatch - October 3, 2017

Thanks, Naomi! A sense of humor is a valuable asset to possess in the midst of chaos, confusion, and challenges.
