Turning A King Mattress October 22, 2016

Last time we stripped the bed to wash the sheets, we decided to fluff up the mattress pad in the dryer.
Once the mattress had been divested of its outerwear, we figured we might as well rotate the mattress.
Once the mattress was off the box springs, we figured we might as well wash the dust ruffle.
At that point, Tigger intervened to check on our progress.
He wandered around the unusual landscape checking things out.
Once Tigger gave us the “all clear,” we figured we might as well lift off the box springs and vacuum under the bed.
Once the box springs were removed, we decided to clean the baseboard and wash the walls behind the bed.
A few observations:
#1 One thing leads to another.
#2 Everything is connected.
#3 King beds are H~E~A~V~Y!!!
When I mentioned the intense work-out we got from our mattress turning session to my sister, she asked an astute question:
“What do people do about flipping king mattresses when they get older?”
Considering the options, I replied:
“You ask your kids to do it. Or you forget to do it. Or like Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, you trade in your King for Twin Beds.”
Of course, by the time BFF & I get around to turning our mattress again, we may all be sleeping in pods on Mars.
Time will tell.
Aah . . . that’s better!

A major effort but we are not as industrious as you!!!
It’s an easy chore to ignore, but turning the mattress improved the landscape on which we sleep.
In other words, we’re sleeping deeper.
Turning a mattress wears me out. Makes me need a nap. But my least favorite household chore is cleaning the bathroom sink. There’s so much clutter on the counter, I spend much of my time just shifting things around.
Bathroom counter clutter accumulates F~A~S~T. I put stuff in the linen closet and before you know it, it’s back out, cluttering up the counter. I guess some stuff doesn’t enjoy being in the dark.
Yeah, I think some stuff grows legs.
My mother and I were just talking about this. I told her it takes three men to flip a king. Needless to say, our bed sags down toward the headboard.
As you may already have guessed, we don’t do it often. But when we do, it gives us a feeling of accomplishment.
Whew! That was a workout! Good thing you had Tigger there to supervise.

This is exactly why I hate to do “simple” projects! There are no simple ones because they grow while you do them.
Exactly! Of course, once the bed was back together, we were happy we tackled it . . . because the mattress felt so good that night!
Oh man! So much work to turn those things! I have a queen, which also is heavy, so I can imagine how heavy a king-size mattress is!
This is our first king-size mattress. Great for sleeping . . . but it weighs a ton.

With cleaning one things definitely could lead to another. For me I think the chore I dislike the most would be…..sweeping the floor.
I enjoy raking leaves outside in the fresh air, but sweeping the floor is a daily chore which is a bore.
We have a queen and it always wins the flipping and rotating war! Why can’t they put handles on them. My Mom-in-law just bought a bed that the manufacturer claims you do not have to flip and rotate… does not seem right.
I would flip over a mattress that needs no flipping!
Haha! If you give a mouse a mattress… 😍 I can so relate to aiming to do a simple task and ending up exhausted hours later as one thing led to another! You can definitely cross that off your list for ever!
It will be awhile. If we begin to feel like we’re sleeping in canoe-size divots, we’ll tackle the task again.
Ha Ha! That’s the way cleaning goes sometimes. Looking closely at one thing, you see something else. And then … well, you’re there anyway.
I traded in my king-sized bed for a queen. A queen is bigger than I need, but It’s nice to have an extra space when the kids and grandkids come to visit. But this new queen is so thick and heavy, I can barely change the sheets. I guess I’ll have to enlist my kids help in flipping it.
King and Queen mattresses definitely fit in with the whole “my home is my castle” theme, eh? But they are not as easy to maneuver around and about and up and over as smaller beds.
Good luck when yours needs to be flipped! Instead of a housewarming party, you can throw and mattress turning party.
This is making me laugh out loud. My guy and I keep on saying we’re going to turn our mattress, but we keep on finding reasons why we don’t have time that particular day. And a favorite household chore? Isn’t that an oxymoron??? 😏

One thing definitely did lead to the next! You shame me with your thoroughness. LOL! I loved your comment about Lucy and Ricky and the twin beds. As long as we can stay in our home together as long as possible in our “old age,” perhaps I won’t worry about the mattress or any number of heavy-duty chores!
I’ve got one word for you . . . ROBOTS!!! We’ll have robots to do the heavy lifting for us!
Folding and putting away the laundry. Hate it. Would rather just leave clean clothes in a pile than do it… but I fold & then fold. 😉
And they just get dirty again!
Our mattress weighs a ton and I hate turning it by myself. It’d be a lot easier if my wife would get out of bed and help.

Lol, one thing certainly leads to another. A small project can mushroom to a big one! The finished product looks nice 🙂
I don’t like ironing.
Ironing is the pits. I gave away my iron and ironing board. I just donate any clothes that need ironing to Goodwill.
Life is too short . . .
