Penny’s Piggy Bank or Piggy’s Penny Bank? May 31, 2016

Posted by nrhatch in Animals, Food & Drink, Health & Wellness.

Meet Penny the Piggy.  She’s a fundraising mascot for Meals on Wheels.  The pennies collected in her Piggy Bank help to provide food for the elderly and other “shut ins” who can’t get out to shop.

But should we call it Penny’s Piggy Bank or Piggy’s Penny Bank?

Either way, feeding the bank fills hungry bellies!

Aah . . . that’s better!

She’s a cutie! Are those pearls she’s wearing?

nrhatch - May 31, 2016

She believes they are pearls . . . but really they are pirate booty tossed off floats in parades.

2. Kate @ Did That Just Happen? - May 31, 2016

either way she’s a perfect mascot for a great program!

nrhatch - May 31, 2016

It is a wonderful program that has filled many hungry bellies.

What a great idea! Penny really looks well fed. 🙂

nrhatch - May 31, 2016

Yes, as my Great Aunt used to say of the “well fed” ~> “She hasn’t missed many meals.”

I used to do Meals on Wheels with CH’s Mom. I really enjoyed it. Penny’s Piggy Bank!

nrhatch - May 31, 2016

Food + Company = just what the doctor ordered.

5. Val Boyko - May 31, 2016

She is an adorable mascot for a great cause! May she inspire many to fill more bellies Nancy 🐷

nrhatch - May 31, 2016

Since 1972, the local Meals on Wheels has served 10 MILLION meals ~ an average of over 600 a day for 44 years!

Val Boyko - May 31, 2016

Wow!! Penny should be wearing fake diamonds around her neck. Good stuff Nancy!

6. joannevalentinesimson - May 31, 2016

Definitely, Penny’s Piggy Bank.

nrhatch - May 31, 2016

I’ve put your vote in the bucket.

(No secret ballots here.)

Penny’s Piggy Bank. Very lovely cause!

nrhatch - May 31, 2016

It helps feed both physical hunger AND the desire for companionship. Both necessary to Health and Well-Being.

8. suzicate - May 31, 2016

Meals on Wheels is a great program. Is this for your neighborhood or a city wide project?

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

The local Meals on Wheels is county wide . . . but “sister programs” are located across the country in other communities.

9. Barb - May 31, 2016

She is a lovely mascot for Meals on Wheels and I love her name – we have had two dogs over the years called Penny. My hubby volunteers twice a week for Meals on Wheels, its a wonderful program.

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

I remember that, Barb. Penny is a lovely name for a pet.

Great place for your hubby to volunteer. If I liked driving more (or if there was less traffic around here), it would be at the top of the list for me.

10. diannegray - May 31, 2016

What a great mascot for a great cause, Nancy. I love Penny’s Piggy Bank 😀

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

Penny is the perfect mascot for a program filling hungry bellies.

11. Debra - May 31, 2016

I’m partial to piggies of any kind! What a great way to call attention to an excellent fundraising effort. I think Meals on Wheels is a very worthy cause!

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

As my great aunt used to say ~> “it’s the belly that keeps up the back.” Penny epitomizes that perfectly.

12. Behind the Story - June 1, 2016

I like Penny’s Piggy Bank. We wouldn’t want to encourage people to give only pennies. It’s a worthy cause. Is TY her baby?

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

Yes. Looks as if Penny adopted TY, the piglet Beanie Baby.

13. Ally Bean - June 1, 2016

I can make a reasoned argument for either name for Penny. However, as my dad used to say: it doesn’t matter what you call me… just don’t call me late for dinner! 😉

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

Wise man, your dad.
And the Ally doesn’t fall far from the tree.

14. Bun Karyudo - June 1, 2016

Cute mascot! Incidentally, both those names are so good, it’s hard to choose. Perhaps you could combine them and say something like Penny Piggy’s penny piggy bank. 🙂

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

That’s a real mouthful, Bun . . . which ties in nicely with the theme.

Bun Karyudo - June 1, 2016

It is a bit wordy! 🙂

15. Tiny - June 1, 2016

With those looks, I’m sure she’s doing a good job. And we can all help with that.

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

She’s a looker, for sure!

16. Carol Ferenc - June 1, 2016

Either way, I love what it stands for!

nrhatch - June 1, 2016

Me too!
