Harbour Isle invited us to the Grand Opening of their new Clubhouse.

2015-08-22 18-35-19_0001

While clouds rolled in, we sipped cocktails by the pool and enjoyed aerial entertainment.

2015-08-22 18-35-28_0002

And acrobatic feats.

2015-08-22 18-35-43_0003

As I dipped pita chips into hummus and munched on egg rolls, I gave thanks that I hadn’t worn a form-fitting leotard to the gala.

2015-08-22 18-35-49_0004

When the rains arrived, we went inside to check out the interior landscape.

2015-08-22 20-34-06_0014

The rain cleared out long enough for us to enjoy a sunset over the intercoastal.

2015-08-22 19-19-14_0007

While ladies in leotards burned calories rolling in, and on, the pool, we swung by a bubbling fountain for a night cap ~> chocolate covered strawberries.

2015-08-22 20-26-45_0008

Just as the sunset reached peak perfection, a human “butterfly” fluttered by.

2015-08-22 20-26-52_0009

We stopped to admire Chef Doug’s “Swan Song” before leaving . . . after a final creme puff.

2015-08-22 20-36-02_0015

Aah . . . that’s better!

It looks magnificent, Nancy.

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

Nice venue for the event ~ with bands outside and in. We even had a chance to play a game of pool on a pristine table.

2. Val Boyko - October 7, 2015

It looks lovely! I’m not so sure about the distractions from mother nature though πŸ™‚

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

We enjoyed watching the storm roll through from an outside covered bar ~> fabulous viewing of the stormy skies.

3. Jill Weatherholt - October 7, 2015

Wow! That woman is doing those moves over concrete! What a beautiful place and a stunning view.

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

I enjoyed watching her ease on the trapeze. Nice place for a Party!

4. Kate Crimmins - October 7, 2015

Was there a real person in that plastic ball? How did she breathe?

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

Yes. Real person. Not sure what arrangements had been made for breathing, but she didn’t pass out . . . so there must have been some way to get oxygen in.

Kate Crimmins - October 7, 2015

Cool!

5. L. Marie - October 7, 2015

What a lovely event, Nancy! Thanks for bring us along. For some reason, I kept picturing the woman in the leotard swinging out too far and landing in the pool. But that’s my imagination at work. Was she the same person in the bubble? I hope she gets paid more than minimum wage.

Um, wow. That swan is beautiful! My compliments to the chef.

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

Not sure whether the person in the bubble and on the trapeze were one and the same since I didn’t get a close view of the bubble.

The professional acrobats had a name ~ the performing somethingorothers (not the Wallendas). I’m sure they earn more than minimum wage.

As for the swan, Chef Doug must have ignored his mother when she said, “Stop playing with your food!”

6. anotherday2paradise - October 7, 2015

Looks like a great evening, Nancy. Love the look of that swan song. πŸ™‚

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

We had a fine time ~ upstairs and down!

7. Carol Ferenc - October 7, 2015

This looks lovely and relaxing. Thanks for sharing with us, Nancy.

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

We had a fun time . . . and it inspired me to take up acrobatics as a new hobby! Haha!

Carol Ferenc - October 7, 2015

Oooo . . . I’ll be looking forward to that πŸ™‚

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

Maybe I’ll start by “bubble floating” in the pool! WHEEE . . .

8. Grannymar - October 7, 2015

Fun times, upstairs, downstairs, inside and out, glad you enjoyed it!

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

Thanks, GM. Much funner than a black tie gala (a/k/a a sit down dinner for stuffed shirts & wallets).

Grannymar - October 7, 2015

I wholeheartedly agree.

9. reocochran - October 7, 2015

You cracked me up, Nancy. πŸ˜€ Enjoying food while contemplating what may have transpired had you worn a white stretchy leotard. I am sure you looked lovely and the food fit into the humor so well throughout the post. πŸ™‚ The entertainment looked delightful and the sunset gorgeous. You deserved this beautiful escape.

nrhatch - October 7, 2015

Thanks, Robin. Glad you enjoyed our vantage point.

10. Tiny - October 7, 2015

Looks and sounds great, Nancy! You’re living High Life from one gala to another πŸ™‚

nrhatch - October 8, 2015

Exactly! And I didn’t have to climb the high wire to live the high life. πŸ˜‰

11. Pix Under the Oaks - October 8, 2015

Sounds absolutely lovely! Hummus and egg rolls… πŸ˜€

nrhatch - October 8, 2015

They had lots of yummy food for carnivores too, but I stayed with the veggie options (including CHOCOLATE).

12. diannegray - October 8, 2015

This looks absolutely fantastic, Nancy. What a beautiful place (and now I want chocolate covered strawberries!) πŸ˜€

nrhatch - October 8, 2015

Great venue for a party.
Here . . . have one on me!

13. Debra - October 9, 2015

Now that’s a clubhouse! It’s situated in such a lovely spot, too. I love the sunset photos, Nancy. My favorite time of day, and I’d be transfixed with that view. πŸ™‚

nrhatch - October 10, 2015

We have some beautiful sunsets ~ and that upstairs terrace provides a serene vantage point to “take it all in.”

Happy Saturday!

14. NancyTex - October 9, 2015

What a lovely event! Looks like a great (and delicious) time.

nrhatch - October 10, 2015

We enjoyed the scene, the sunset, the food, and watching the supple elastic acrobats!

15. Behind the Story - October 11, 2015

I like the life-sized bubble on the pool and the human butterfly combined with the sunset. Very romantic. But why did they submerge oranges and lemons in the gladiolas’ vase?

nrhatch - October 11, 2015

Good question, Nicki. I’ve seen bowls of colorful fruit used as centerpieces before, but never submerged fruit. And never competing with gladioli.

Maybe they did it to weight the vase down so it wouldn’t be top heavy if any heavy hitters came around.

16. jannatwrites - October 11, 2015

That looks peaceful. Had to laugh at being glad you didn’t wear a leotard. .. I’d be happy about that too!

nrhatch - October 11, 2015

Cocktail Parties + Stretchy Leotards = NOT Perfect Together!
