Salads, Spoonbills, & Sunset Scenes August 11, 2015

For our 31st Anniversary, we went to Village Idiot Pizzeria. A sign on the door said, “Closed. On vacation for the month of June.”
They are NO idiots!
We came up with Plan B . . . dinner at the Bridge Tender Inn on Bridge Street.
Only the salads (and our waitress) turned out to be vegetarian friendly.
While waiting for our salads to arrive, we watched the locals.
As they spooned up muddy waters.
For a soothing sushi dinner.
While watching out for ankle biters!
After dinner, we walked down the beach to check out the groin project.
Looking it over . . . up and down . . . top to bottom.
We walked back to Bridge Street and watched the sun set.
Enjoying coastal colors and cheerful company.
Before retrieving the car, we turned around for a final peek.
Aah . . . that’s better!

Closed for the month of June. Now that’s heaven.
When we stopped back in July, they said they’d spent June in Maine . . . not too shabby.
Happy Anniversary, Nancy! Nice job capturing a perfect sunset…beautiful!
Thanks, Jill. As anniversaries go, #31 was low key but sunny.
Now that’s the way to spend an anniversary… on the beach! Happy Anniversary you two! Wonderful pictures, Nancy! Good Morning!
Thanks, Pix! In the summer, we enjoy morning and evening beach walks ~ we stay inside during the heat of the day. 😎
Lovely photos and it looks like you had a relaxing anniversary – congratulations 🙂
Thanks, Rainee! Life is all about be willing to move to Plan B when Plan A doesn’t pan out.
Happy 31st and many more, to you and hubby. How lovely to share your anniversary with spoonies and a gorgeous sunset over the ocean……not so much the ankle biters though. 🙂
Thanks, Sylvia. The spoonbill was a nice surprise as we waited for our salads to arrive ~ and we didn’t see a single ankle biter!
Two nice bits of luck. 🙂
Happy Anniversary,NH! I hope they had some yummy dessert following that salad!
We spied a yummy dessert on the menu. We ordered it . . . too late! Someone else got the last slice of chocolate Kahlua pie.
DOH!
Exactly!
Plan B was not too shabby. Nature provided the perfect ending.
Happy Anniversary you two!
xo
Thanks, Val! Even after missing out on the Kahlua pie, we enjoyed the sweet finish to our day.
I’d take Plan B near the ocean any day. Happy anniversary!
Thanks! Plan B worked out quite well.
Happy anniversary! I used to frequent a little Thai restaurant that closed every July. They could have bought a bigger building and expanded their business, but they liked being able to go visit relatives in Thailand for a month every summer, so they stayed with the small, paid-off building. I really admired their dedication to balancing business and family life.
Finding that balance is hard to do . . . but it’s worth it!
Sounds and looks like a wonderful anniverary date. Congratulations and happy days ahead.
Thanks! Here’s to living happily ever after . . . on a moment by moment basis.
Happy Anniversary for June, Nancy – what a relaxing way to spend it. I wish I could have taken the entire month of June off. These people sure know where their priorities lie 😀
That’s what I thought. Sounds like they enjoyed some cooler temps in Maine.
Every anniversary, even low-key, is special. I like the way you spent this one, to be sure. And those sunsets on the beach are simply magical. I love the Spoonbills, too. I think you may have described a perfect day! 🙂
Thanks, Debra! We’ve enjoyed a few “over the top” anniversary celebrations, but far more “low key” ones.
Happy Anniversary Nancy, and a nice, relaxing way to spend it. Love that sunset.
Thanks, Barb! Sunrises and sunsets bookend our days, marking the passage of time.
Congrats on your anniversary! Looks like it was a wonderful one, complete with a fabulous sunset!
Thanks, Tiny! When things didn’t pan out with Plan A, we went with the flow and allowed Plan B to unfold . . . in technicolor.
Happy anniversary! They must really cherish their vacation time at the Village Idiot Pizzeria or not have enough staff to run the place.
Thanks, Timi. Here’s to living happily ever after . . . on a moment by moment basis.
The tourist trade in Florida slows down enough each summer to allow restaurants to press *PAUSE* and take a breather.
