1. Val Boyko - May 19, 2015

Now you’re talking Nancy! How wonderful to live your days on Island Time 🙂

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

It beats punching a clock . . .

Val Boyko - May 19, 2015

So true 🐥

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

No more smacking the snooze button to get a few more ZZZ’s.

2. Val Boyko - May 19, 2015

p.s. Great photos too!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

About half the shots are from an Open House at Mirabay, near Apollo Beach. After listening to a steel drummer (while getting brain freeze from pina coladas), we went for a boat ride around the 165-acre lagoon and then checked out the pool.

3. Jill Weatherholt - May 19, 2015

That’s the ticket! I’m ready! Love this, Nancy.

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Ya, mon . . . now ya talking. 😎

4. Hariod Brawn - May 19, 2015

Bombay Sapphire – only the best. Have you tried Hendricks though?

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

I have not. In fact, I must confess I haven’t even sipped Bombay Sapphire. Gin is not my drink . . . shaken or stirred. But the bottle looked cool sitting there. 😎

5. Rainee - May 19, 2015

Lovely cheery post Nancy 🙂

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Thanks, Rainee! Hope everyone who stops by feels they’ve had a mini-vacation . . . the pause that refreshes.

Rainee - May 19, 2015

Thanks Nancy 🙂

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Island time is a state of mind.

6. Pix Under the Oaks - May 19, 2015

Sounds and looks good to me, Nancy! Great pictures to wake up to. We will be thinking about you two today enjoying your island time!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Thanks, Pix! About to hop on my bike and head to the pool for Water Aerobics. Beach towels and bathing suits instead of litigation bags and business suits! 😎

7. L. Marie - May 19, 2015

Wow. I kid you not–just looking at those photos made my blood pressure drop. I could feel myself relax. Wow. Just wow. I needed that.

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Yay! Exactly the reaction I hoped to share, Linda. Sometimes a quick shift in perspective allows us to breathe easy. _/!\_

L. Marie - May 20, 2015

I keep coming by just to look at the photos and go, “Aaahhh.”

nrhatch - May 20, 2015

Awesome!

See that top photo?
The one with the empty chair next to me?

That chair has YOUR name all over it!

Jill Weatherholt - May 21, 2015

I wanna chair too! 🙂

nrhatch - May 21, 2015

We’ll save YOU a seat too, Jill. The more the merrier as we sip our margaritas!

8. brickhousechick - May 19, 2015

Ahhhhh…that IS better! Beautiful photos, Nancy. Yo quiero. I loved this post and I especially love the plantain chips I spied on your plate! WHAAAAAT? Yo quiero. 🙂

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Kick back. Relax. And I’ll pass you a drink to go with those chips, chica!

9. Kate Crimmins - May 19, 2015

I love island time especially with an adult island drink!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

“Wasted away again in Margaritaville!” 😎

10. suzicate - May 19, 2015

Island time is magical! I sure enjoyed my Ocracoma…ready to do it again!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Love that “Ocracoma” . . . the Outer Banks does induce a sense of R&R with a side order of peace and calm.

11. viviankirkfield - May 19, 2015

Nancy, your photos make me think Florida might be THE place to retire to. Thank you for sharing this moment of paradise. 😉

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

It is THE place for us. For NOW anyhow. Hope you’re having a great time reading bedtime stories ~ what a wonderful way to wind down at night.

12. Grannymar - May 19, 2015

I needed that mini vacation, we had hail showers every fifteen minutes today so a touch of sunshine on my toes and a sip of Bombay Sapphire did me a world of good!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Hailstones rattling on the roof can be unsettling. Glad the Bombay Sapphire worked its magic!

13. NancyTex - May 19, 2015

I need a vacation!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Not surprising, NT ~> holidays, house hunting, moving, business trips, grueling hikes in the desert, wrestling with your gallbladder, jousting with the medical system, a stint with a stint, etc.

You do need a vacation. Hope you find time to pencil one in.

14. Silver in the Barn - May 19, 2015

Both of us are feeling the need for a vacation just like this. We’re leaving in a few weeks for Asia. When we get back, we’ll need a vacation. Our Taiwanese friends have no concept of island time, believe me. Ahhh, I’m feeling the need for an adult beverage too!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Hope you enjoy your vacation and your “vacation from your vacation” ~ having fun can be hard work.

15. Patricia - May 19, 2015

Great photos and commentary. Relaxing just to look at all the sunshine and blue.

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Hi Patricia. I love it when the sky cooperates and becomes such a brilliant backdrop for my snap shots.

16. Eileen - May 19, 2015

my favorite is the inner artist. What a fine time you are having.

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Thanks, Eileen. When we keep our eyes wide open, surprises await around the next corner.

17. Tiny - May 19, 2015

Oh, how relaxing! Thanks for the reminder that we’re on island time – I’ve not felt it the last few days…need to make up for it the rest of the week 😀 Wonderful pictures, Nancy!!

nrhatch - May 19, 2015

Thanks, Tiny. The colors in Florida make it easy to capture decent shots with my little point and shoot camera ~ vibrant, deep, and alive.

18. Kate @ Did That Just Happen? - May 20, 2015

And I want to live a life that makes me feel like every day is that day! 🙂

nrhatch - May 20, 2015

When I look back on my life, I don’t see how I could have gotten “here” without first experiencing “there” (and “there” and “there”) along the way. (And if I had landed “here” straight out of college, I wonder if I would still appreciate it?)

That said, I always wanted to be “here” . . . even before I knew “here” existed. As soon as I got “here,” I knew I had found my way “home.”

Enjoy the journey from “where you are” to “where you want to be” as you keep moving from “there” to “here.”

19. Remarkable Trees | El Space–The Blog of L. Marie - May 21, 2015

[…] Just looking at those trees makes me feel better. And this great post at Nancy Hatch’s blog, Spirit Lights The Way, has the same effect: https://nrhatch.wordpress.com/2015/05/19/relax-youre-on-island-time/ […]

20. Three Well Beings - May 21, 2015

I’m more relaxed just envisioning your island time! Does anyone on the island have high blood pressure? LOL!

nrhatch - May 21, 2015

Good question, Debra! Before moving here, I skirted with high blood pressure from time to time and one doctor prescribed meds to lower it (but I never bothered to fill the prescription).

These days my blood pressure readings are in the range of 110/70. So much better.

21. Anne Lene - May 21, 2015

Oh my gosh… I think I need to come visit 😉 I can feel my body relax just LOOKING at your pictures…

nrhatch - May 21, 2015

Excellent! Here’s to that subtle shift in perspective that allows us to breathe easier!

22. anotherday2paradise - May 22, 2015

Wonderful post, Nancy. Looks like a beautiful piece of paradise. Enjoy. 😃

nrhatch - May 23, 2015

Thanks, Sylvia. Hope you have a BLAST on your trip!

23. reocochran - May 24, 2015

Your home, pool, mosaic tiles, painting and atmosphere resources totally shine with island joy, Nancy. The pool with turquoise tiles is lovely. May I have a strawberry daiquiri? 🙂

nrhatch - May 24, 2015

Oh, none of these shots are “our home.” About half the shots are from an Open House at Mirabay, near Apollo Beach.

After listening to a steel drummer (while getting brain freeze from pina coladas), we went for a boat ride around the 165-acre lagoon and then checked out the pool.

They were also serving strawberry daiquiris! 😎

24. L. Marie - May 28, 2015

I need to be sitting in that red chair drinking something cool!

nrhatch - May 28, 2015

*clink*

25. jannatwrites - July 22, 2015

Island time looks like a good time to me. Pesky work gets in the way of living on island time for me 🙂

nrhatch - July 22, 2015

Perhaps a long weekend in your future . . . devoid of stress!
