While cruising around Terra Ceia Island, we stumbled across the perfect writer’s retreat.
Situated on a corner lot, the house overlooks the banks of Terra Ceia Bay.
Imagine writing at a desk in that turret, underneath the weathered vane.
Gazing out at blue skies, serenaded by sea breezes and wandering muse.
Of course, if we moved, we’d miss our neighbors . . . like Ichabod Ibis.
As well as Ida, Iago, Irene, Igor, Igraine, Ike, Ignatius, Ian, and Icarus.
Aah . . . that’s better!

Spirit Lights The Way 
Looks brilliant! And not just for the inspiration to write, but for the summer BBQ’s and family fishing trips. Wouldn’t mind smoking a wee joint in the scorching summer sun on the front lawn either to be honest.
Haha! Too bad the initiative to legalize Medical Marijuana didn’t pass here in FL. We could set it up as a “clinic.” 😛

It looks like a B&B doesn’t it. Pretty sure it was a private residence. It caught my eye on the way in so I decided to snap a few pics on our way out.
That porch would be perfect for sipping an adult beverage . . . or a lemonade.

I used to lose BFF in our house in NJ ~ a big rambling ranch with a full basement with 2 bedrooms, 2 living areas, laundry, bath, etc. I’d yell “HELLO” and hear only an echo in reply.
The views would be too distracting, for me to concentrate on my writing.

Yes. The bottom shots are from the back deck of our villa. Ichabod showed up again this morning, but the rest of his family was MIA.
Too big for me to rattle around in, on my own, but it does look tempting!
It might be a good house for 3-4 good friends to co-own, sharing cooking, cleaning, and sitting on the porch duties.
I’d have to find people willing to live with ME first! 😆
Oh, I’ve got it . . . the American Annex to Hour House! With a cook making scones in the kitchen!
I’m sure it’s the perfect writers retreat, but it’s also just an awesome house! When I dream that’s the kind of house I picture!
I always planned to have a Victorian with front and back stairs and turrets on at least 2 corners ~ one for writing and one for painting. It hasn’t happened . . . and that’s OK.
There’s always a B&B to get the feeling for a long relaxing weekend.
It’s a beautiful house and the setting is perfect – for anything!
At one point, I thought I might like to run a B&B. Something like this would be perfect for an endeavor like that.

That’s a lovely house! I would volunteer for the porch sitting duty, but like you, I think I’d miss my neighbors if I moved.
I’m with you, Tiny. We love where we live ~ close to the beaches without having to deal with beach traffic if we just want to go for a walk or bike ride through Robinson, Neal, or Perico Preserves.
A beautiful house. It’s big enough for a one-week retreat for five or ten writers. Of course, only one or two could write at the desk in the turret.
We’ll tell the writers with the best imaginations to pretend they’re writing in the turret . . . and the rest of us will draw straws! 😛

Sure DOES look like a great place to write from! I’m so crazy about turrets I had one put on the house we had built – even though it’s only one story b/c we couldn’t justify a second story for just the two of us. So we have this eclectic looking structure that has pale yellow siding two-thirds of the way down, the bottom third is gray rocks, and there’s a 15-foot turret at one end (which, of course, is my office!). After living in apartments and a mobile home for the first 20 years we were married, my other two requirements for the new house were no square rooms and no white walls. My husband, one of 9 children, had only one requirement: a dining room big enough so that no one would have to scooch their chair in if somebody was trying to get by. Sixteen years later we are still enjoying our oddball colorful house with the roomy dining area!
On another note – love the “snow” that seems to be falling across your blog – would love to know how that works.

I don’t have any pictures of the house posted anywhere. Typical new house owners, we took rolls during the building process and the first year or so (Look! New House. Look! New house with flower growing in front. Look! . . . ), but haven’t taken one of just the house in over a decade. (Look! The porch needs painting!) A picture now would include all my metal ‘junk’ sculptures – because who doesn’t need a six-foot rooster and a flying pig?!
Believe it or not . . . I have pictures of two 6 foot roosters AND a flying pig on SLTW:
So I’m not as weird as I thought I was. OR, we’re BOTH weird! Loved both rooster pics – the bottom one is a similar style to some of my treasures. I’m going to have to find a way to incorporate them into one of my blogs. Hmmm, Marriage is like a 6 ft Rooster. Or maybe, Getting FIERCE Before Pigs Fly. I’ll figure it out!
I don’t know about your marriage blog, but you bet you could incorporate an “anything goes” post into your Goalfest series AND I expect readers would love to see your Cock. 😛
Do any meteorologists have an explanation for the snow in Florida?
If you were to show me a picture of that house, I would never guess Florida as its locale. I always think of FL as so brand spanking new and I guess that’s just wrong. Beautiful!
Florida doesn’t have the same English history as Wmsburg or Philadelphia or Boston, but it does have the OLDEST city in the U.S. ~> St. Augustine.
We just seem “new” because we have the “fountain of youth.” 😛

What a beautiful house and location! If I were fortunate to have this house as a writer’s retreat I probably would spend all my time staring out the window at the beauty. Not sure I’d get much writing done! It would be fun to try, however. 🙂
I’d enjoy the views by day and write by night . . . at least until the novelty wore off. When we first moved here, I constantly craned my neck to look for cranes, woodstorks and ibis. And I got NOTHING done.

So far only one house has made me look twice. Well, officially 3 times (just went back for another open house yesterday). It’s a quirky, amazing mid-century modern in a Frank Lloyd-Wright’esque style. It is completely impractical for my life (i.e. we would have to make some structural changes). Add to that that the roof and windows need replacing, and we would be looking at an additional $100k in renovation costs. So… net/net – we’ve agreed on a ceiling price we would be willing to offer for it (substantially less than they’re listing it for), but are watching and waiting to see if they lower the listing. (I worry about ‘offending’ them with too low ball an offer…)
So… it’s the waiting game…

Sometimes patience PAYS OFF . . . with dividends. Sounds intriguing ~ glad that you’re balancing your heart and your head (and not getting in over your head).
Nope, I’m holding firm. Told hubby: I need to come out of this transaction net financially favourable (and by at least $200k) to have made the sale of my house worth it. Otherwise… why bother? I loved this house. I only sold it because I wanted to cash in… If I overspend on the next one, it’ll all be for naught.
It’s great that you have that NET as a benchmark ~ it will help you land in the right nest.
