Tiggers-R-UsKate tagged me (and 6 other bloggers) on her Q&A Time post last week.

Here are her questions and my answers:

1. Why did you start blogging?

While writing on WEbook, I realized I wanted to house my unique perspective on life in one searchable data base.  I decided a blog would be perfect.

What followed has been tons of FUN (with more than a few FUN followers) ~> cyber sharing is far more entertaining than writing in a journal.

2. If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and who would it be for?

Assuming cost was no object and time didn’t act as a barrier to attendance, I’d rent a cruise ship for a week’s cruise with gatherings for different groups ~ e.g., a pool party for grade school buddies, a pizza party for high school friends, a keg party for college classmates, a debating game for law school students and professors, cocktail parties for co-workers, buffet dinners with neighbors (from NJ, SC, NC, VA, MD, FL) . . . and a casino night with FREE drinks and chips for all my Blogging Buddies.

We’d enjoy non-stop on-board entertainment (with fabulous gifts and exciting prizes), water sports (windsurfing, parasailing, paddleboarding, sunbathing, wave running), and a stop at my private island.

What?  It’s my fantasy.  Nowhere in the question did it say I couldn’t have a private island.

Calvin-gots-an-Idea3. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass that time?

I visualize how to (a) solve world hunger or (b) win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Or both.

Both would be good.

4. At what age did you become an adult?

Age 26-27 ~> I graduated from law school, got married, started practicing law, bought a house, adopted two kittens, bought a car, etc.

A mortgage + real estate taxes screams “adult.”

5. What story does your family always tell about you?

They don’t talk about me, they’re too busy . . .

Wait!

What have you heard?

6.  Is a picture worth a thousand words? Explain.

In Words and Pictures, an artist and a writer spar to decide whether words trump pictures or vice versa.

They conclude, and I agree, that it depends on the subject matter being depicted.

Some abstract subjects require the subtle nuance of words.

When discussing more concrete subject matter, like FOOD, a picture is worth way more than a thousand words.

2013-11-14 17-38-02_0002

Especially since it’s rude to talk with your mouth full.

7.  Whasssssuuuupppppp?

What a subtle and insidious way to put pressure on the addressee (in this case, ME!) to come up with an interesting topic for conversation rather than assuming responsibility for getting the conversation started by sharing some interesting insight into life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.

What’s up with that, Kate?

Aah . . . that’s better!

If you’re interested in playing along, answer these 7 questions on your own blog or in the comment thread below:

1.  What’s been the “best day” of your life . . . so far?

2.  When calories and cost are no object, what’s your favorite thing to eat?

3.  What’s been your “greatest” accomplishment to date?

4.  If you could have someone “on staff” for a week, at no cost to you, would you choose a personal chef, chauffeur, masseuse, hairdresser, pool boy or concubine?

5.  What’s your favorite season?  Where do you enjoy spending it?

6.  If you could travel anywhere right now with a simple snap of your fingers, where would you go?

7.  If you won a million $’s, what would you change in your day-to-day life?

Tag!  You’re It!

1. Jill Weatherholt - November 25, 2014

Great answers, Nancy! I loved number five…so you!

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Thanks, Jill. I enjoyed answering Kate’s queries. Now, you’ll have to excuse me . . . I have a mountain of sweet potato fries to weed through.

2. ericjbaker - November 25, 2014

As a non-gambler, may I attend one of the other events on the cruise ship? I’m always down for a pizza party.

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Absolutely! I expect that many would opt for the pizza party!

3. Pix Under the Oaks - November 25, 2014

We have that movie ready to go in the dvr! Enjoyed your Q&A Nancy!
I just might be back to answer your questions.. I have an answer for all except #1.. well heck, I am thinking it is going to be today 😀 But really every day I spent in high school was a great day. I had a blast in high school.. 😀
2. Favorite thing to eat.. cheeseburger and fries!
3. Making it to my 63rd birthday.
4. Personal chef!
5. Fall is my favorite season and I enjoy spending it in Missouri on the Tiny Ten.
6. Cortona.. Tuscany, Italy.
7. I would find a beautiful quiet piece of land with more acreage as a buffer from the craziness and not a neighbor in sight right here in Missouri with lots of Oaks and sittin’ places.

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Enjoy the movie, Pix ~ it’s an interesting film with highs and lows.

Good answers. I’m glad you just spent your favorite season in your favorite place. Good luck finding your personal oasis . . . and a groundskeeper to maintain it for you.

Pix Under the Oaks - November 25, 2014

Hopefully it would all be wooded and only the birds and critters would spend time there.. minimal maintenance just close to the house.

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

You could live like Snow White and the seven dwarves, with CH as your only “dwarf.”

Would he be Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Dopey, Sneezy, Grumpy, or Doc? 😛

Pix Under the Oaks - November 25, 2014

CH would always be happy.. you know him, he is just that kind of guy!

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

I knew it! That’s why I listed Happy first.

4. Silver in the Barn - November 25, 2014

We’d board the “Spirit LIghts The Way” and have a total blast and be able to eat as much as we want without gaining an ounce….hey, that’s my cruise ship fantasy! What great answers, Nancy, loved this!

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

I almost worked that into the party equation, Barbara! Not only could we eat ALL we wanted without gaining weight, we could be kids at the pool party, college age students at the keg party, etc.

Creative visualization is a trip!

Silver in the Barn - November 25, 2014

Oh YES! I love that idea. Happy Thanksgiving and All Aboard!!

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Thanks, Barbara. Hope you have a FAB Thanksgiving overflowing with moments of gratitude.

5. jannatwrites - November 25, 2014

Haha, this was quite entertaining! A cruise ship and private island? You dream big 😯 I had to laugh at your response to the story your family tells about you. I’m not saying what I’ve heard!

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

We’ve moved around so much that we have pockets of friends all over the place ~ NJ, VA, SC, NC, MD, and here. It would be fun to have them all in one place for a week ~ as “captives” on a cruise ship. With great food, music, and entertainment.

I’m not spilling the beans either!

6. Crowing Crone - November 25, 2014

a delightful post! you always make me want to read more

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

What a lovely comment! Thanks, Joss.

7. William D'Andrea - November 25, 2014

4. What story does my family always tell about me?
I have no idea, and I don’t want to know what people are saying about me behind my back. I’d prefer to get along with all of them.
**************
1. The best day of my life so far? After being in this world for 69 years, there have been many. I don’t know how I’d rank them. It’s just better to enjoy the good memories, whatever they may be.
2. I will be having my favorite thing to eat, at my sister’s place, the day after tomorrow, when we’re having Thanksgiving dinner.
3. My greatest accomplishment to date is having both my books published. They’re both very distinctly different, and I’m not sure which one I think is “better”.
4. Personal chef.
5. My favorite season is Summertime. I’d enjoy spending it anywhere.
6. I’m not sure where I’d want to travel. From 1969 until 1987, I spent my vacations as a world traveler. As a tourist, I visited Puerto Rico and most often Mexico. I also once visited Portugal and Spain. I was in Guadalajara, Mexico in February 1979, when the newly elected Pope John Paul II was visiting. I was also in Guatemala, in 1976 when the Country was struck with a massive earthquake.

I’ve also been to Panama, the Dominican Republic and Caracas, Venezuela, which was the only place I disliked. The City was obliterating itself, with urban renewal. In this Country, I’ve visited Washington D.C., Miami, Florida, Disneyworld, and Scranton, Pennsylvania. That’s where my father came from, and where some of my relatives live.

As of right now, the only place I’m looking forward to visiting, is my sister’s house, in the Village of Orient, just west of Orient Point, at the tip of Long Island’s North Fork, for Thanksgiving. I’m not sure if I want to just snap my finger. I’d miss the passing scenery.

7. With a million dollars, I wouldn’t have to eat all my meals at home. I could go out, and actually have a lot of breakfasts at I-Hop.

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Aah . . . the ostrich approach to life. Bury your head in the sand so you don’t have to hear what people really think about you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

William D'Andrea - November 25, 2014

What’s wrong with avoiding petty, pointless arguments, which just make people feel bad, and accomplish nothing?

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it . . .

Hey! Wait just a minute!

Are you trying to draw me into a petty, pointless argument, which just makes people feel bad, and accomplishes nothing?

William D'Andrea - November 25, 2014

That’s really good Nancy! You got the joke even before I did!

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Thanks! Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

William D'Andrea - November 25, 2014

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you too, along with everyone reading this.

8. katecrimmins - November 25, 2014

I’ll start packing.

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

We are going to have a BLAST!

9. Kate @ Did That Just Happen? - November 25, 2014

Love, love, LOVE your answers!!! I always find so much pressure comes with answering questions, but your’s were great! Love that you didn’t leave yourself boxed in!! And now I want to go on a cruise and have a gambling night with all of us! 😀

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Thanks, Kate. And thanks for including me. I haven’t answered a Q&A post in a L~O~N~G time and your questions made it FUN.

You went to Vegas for your birthday so I figured a Gambling Night would suit! That and on board entertainment with all our favorite performers. Ooh . . .

What about a “virtual” reality performance room? We could go in and see the Beatles, performing live, back when!

10. suzicate - November 25, 2014

If you ever throw that party, please invite me….sounds like loads of fun!

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Absolutely! You’re on the VIP List.

11. Grannymar - November 25, 2014

I love your answer to N0. 5! As for me, what other people say about me behind my back, is actually none of my business.

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Yes! I’ve heard Wayne Dyer quoted as saying: “What you think of me is none of my business.”

12. viviankirkfield - November 25, 2014

I’m up for that cruise, Nancy! Loved all of your answers…and I’ll have an order of sweet potato fries to go, please. 😉 😉

nrhatch - November 25, 2014

Thanks, Vivian! It would be so much fun to be on a cruise surrounded by friends. Think of the positive energy!

We loved those Sweet Potato Fries from Stonewood Grill.

Hope your Thanksgiving is filled with Happy!

13. JOriginal Muse - November 26, 2014

1. Best day so far ~ the one that’s HERE NOW ~ TODAY.

2. Favorite food (with or without the calories) ~ Sweet Potato Fries with a vegan dip (your picture spoke a thousand adjectives)

3. Greatest Accomplishment to Date ~ 5 Cool Kids

4. A (sexy hot) Chauffeur named “James” (maybe one week could turn into a lifetime)

5. Summertime ~ at the beach

6. Snap, tap, clap, rap ~ Put me on the “Spirit Lights The Way” Cruise Ship headed for Nancy’s private island

7. $1 million ~ Would that buy me a ship of my own to live on…? My life would never be the same, and my world would never be flat

nrhatch - November 26, 2014

Yay! Hope your day today is filled with all good things . . . including some Sweet Potatoe Fries with a side of “james.”

Happy Thanksgiving!

14. Don - November 26, 2014

Really enjoyed that Nancy. If ever you hire that boat don’t forget one here in South Africa. 🙂

nrhatch - November 26, 2014

I will remember you!

A~L~L A~B~O~A~R~D!

15. sufilight - November 26, 2014

Enjoyed your answers. After solving world hunger and winning the Nobel Peace Prize we can all read about your experience with wide- eyed wonder. 🙂

nrhatch - November 26, 2014

Thanks, Marie! Hope you are doing well with lots of good stuff Phil-ling your days.

16. NancyTex - November 26, 2014

Great answers, NH. Now, please be a dear and pass the sweet potato fries…

nrhatch - November 26, 2014

I cannot see that photo without wanting to order another order.

17. diannegray - November 27, 2014

I love the casino night with free drinks and chips (casino chips or edible chips?) lol Great answers, Nancy 😀

nrhatch - November 27, 2014

Both! Plus the all you can eat seafood buffet when you tire of Black Jack and Roulette.

18. Three Well Beings - December 1, 2014

The blogging party sounds like a wonderful idea! Casino night–I’m in! And although I understand marriage and mortgage equals adulthood, you still know how to have fun like a child. I’ve seen those pictures. 🙂

nrhatch - December 1, 2014

That is when I became an adult . . . later on, I realized that being an adult wasn’t as much fun as engaging with the world with childlike wonder.

So I engaged in some “small degree” of regression. 😛

19. beeblu - December 5, 2014

I’m hanging out for you to win the lotto so that we can have that party! Can we win mystery prizes in that Casino’s slot machines instead of money?

Entertaining post, Nancy.

nrhatch - December 5, 2014

Ooh . . . mystery prizes would be fun. Thanks, BB.

20. Ariel Bernstein - December 8, 2014

Fun idea! I enjoyed reading this and now have a craving for sweet potato fries…

nrhatch - December 8, 2014

Sweet potato fries + breakfast = perfect together!
