180px-Leonardo_Skeleton_1511Husband’s call:

Honey it’s me. I don’t want to alarm you but I was hit by a car as I was leaving the office.

Paula brought me to the hospital. They have checked me over and done some tests and some x-rays.  The blow to my head was severe, but it did not cause any serious internal injury.

However I have three broken ribs , a compound fracture in the left leg, and they think they may have to amputate my right foot.

Wife’s Response:

Who is Paula?

220px-Alice_par_John_Tenniel_27Bonus Laugh:

A recent study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it.

Aah . . . that’s better!

OMG! I thought that first one was a real call from your very real husband. You got me on that! and yeah, whose Paula? She better be an EMT!

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

You’ve given me something else to be thankful for, Kate ~> I am ecstatic that BFF isn’t undergoing what that poor husband is going through. OUCH!

I wonder if Paula is on the up and up . . . if not, OUCH x 2!

2. Grannymar - April 26, 2014

That made me giggle, and I needed it badly today!

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

A day without laughter . . . is a day wasted! My sense of humor sustains me.

Grannymar - April 26, 2014

Laughter is usually my constant companion, but I think it overslept today! Back on track now.

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

Same here. When my sense of humor flees . . . I try to reclaim it at the first opportunity.

3. Val Boyko - April 26, 2014

The bonus laugh was a cracker!!! Thank you for the big grin 😛

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

Yay! I got a kick out of that too.

4. Don - April 26, 2014

There’s always a Paula. Big laugh Nancy – thank you. 🙂

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

Yay! Hope you have a fab day, Don.

5. sufilight - April 26, 2014

This made me chuckle and glad it wasn’t your hubby as I first thought it was! Whew. 😀

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

That would be a tough transition for us ~ who would reach the upper reaches of the cabinets for me if BFF was out of commission. ❓

6. diannegray - April 26, 2014

Oh no! I thought it was real for a minute and when I got to the punch-line laughed very loudly! Well done, Nancy 😀

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

Yay! Glad you got a kick out of it. Also glad this is just a joke ~ it would be hard to handle having BFF so beat up.

7. Tina DC Hayes - April 26, 2014

LOL! Thanks for the Saturday night chuckle! Hope ur having a great weekend 🙂

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

We are. Thanks, Tina. We just watched Philomena. Excellent film. We both liked it more than we anticipated we would.

Reminds me of a paranoid girlfriend I had. She was about to get wheeled in for abdominal surgery and noticed one of the nurses was on the attractive side. She grabbed my shirt on the way out and said, “I saw you looking at her!” I should have slipped the anesthesiologist a few extra bucks to up the dose.

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

When BFF had surgery, he flirted outrageously with one of the nurses while still “under the effects” (well, that’s his story, anyway). As I looked on, he said to her, “I’d like to take you home with me.”

He blamed it on the drugs. How convenient! 😎

ericjbaker - April 26, 2014

Men! What are you going to do with us? We’re silly.

nrhatch - April 26, 2014

Life would be ever so dull without our guys!

9. barb19 - April 27, 2014

Hehehe, I thought it was for real at first, and feeling sorry for your hubby – till he mentioned Paula….thanks for the chuckle Nancy!

nrhatch - April 27, 2014

I am glad it wasn’t BFF who got hit by a car while “ogling” Paula.

10. Pix Under the Oaks - April 27, 2014

I got a little concerned when I started to read this in my email and then I knew it wasn’t BFF when I saw “leaving the office”.. 🙄 Then I read wife’s response, scrolled up and had a good laugh!
Good Morning!

nrhatch - April 27, 2014

Good morning, Pix! Yup, BFF’s days of “leaving the office” are behind him. So I no longer have to worry about Paula’s behind.

11. jannatwrites - April 27, 2014

Haha… the accident is the least of his worries, now!

nrhatch - April 28, 2014

His wife will probably take issue with the nurses too.

12. Booksphotographsandartwork - April 28, 2014

Glad I didn’t have a sip of coffee at that moment! ha ha funny. Not really though as I have been in similiar circumstances. And probably so have a lot of women who are locked up in jail now. And shouldn’t be 🙂 Have a great day!

nrhatch - April 28, 2014

These jokes highlight two “deadly sins” ~> Jealousy and Vanity. I try to avoid both because I’d rather not exist in a prison of my own making.
