We have two newspapers on the island ~ The Islander and The AMI Sun.
This week, both featured articles on Anna Maria Island’s standing in the TripAdvisor’s list of Top Ten Island Destinations in the U.S.
We are number 3!!!
Here’s the complete list: 1. Marco Island, Fla.; 2. Chincoteague Island, Va.; 3. Anna Maria Island, Fla.; 4. San Juan Island, Wash.; 5. Maui, Hawaii; 6. Kauai, Hawaii; 7. Island of Hawaii, Hawaii; 8. Nantucket, Mass.; 9. Hilton Head, S.C.; 10. Key West, Fla.
C’mon down . . . your table is waiting for you.
Aah . . . that’s better!

That looks sooooo inviting!
It’s a warm and happy place to be.
Seems like you made a great choice in deciding where to settle :-).
We are glad we landed here. We also lived on Chincoteague Island for a time ~ in 2000.
You should be #1!!! It is beautiful there.. 😎
Maybe the snowbirds will flock to Marco Island and ease traffic on our “hidden gem.” 😀
That’s a thought!
Leave the light on and the tequila out! You may have visitors!
C’mon down! I’ve got a bottle of Island Rum. Perfect for umbrella drinks. 😎
That’ll work!
My Dad used to be an avid cyclist, and one of his favorite trips was to Chincoteague. He always talked about how much he liked it there, but I’ve never made it myself. I’d go by car, sadly, because I don’t like to get rained on. Or to sweat.
We lived on Chincoteague for 6 mos. while househunting on the DelMarVa peninsula. It’s worth a trip. Go by car. 😀
You are so fortunate to live there.
I agree. It’s great to live exactly where you want to be.
Just a beautiful place Nancy. It all looks so blue
Today we had gorgeous blue skies . . . with the slightest nip in the air. Nothing frigid, just sweater weather.
Reblogged this on MadeleineMaya.
Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure! Happy friday
It’s a beautiful place to live in. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are statistics reporting that people who live in sunshine states are generally happier than than those who live in colder climates.
I know the people who live around here seem happier when we see them out and about ~ many more smiles than when we lived in NJ and MD.
#3 isn’t too shabby 🙂 Congrats for living in your own piece of paradise!
Regarding Sufilight’s comment about sunshine states and happiness – in Phoenix, they’ve found that road rage incidents increase in the hot summer months…so it appears that too much sun can be a bad thing (that and being stuck in traffic with thousands of other people 🙂 )
I think “sweltering heat” puts people in a rage when stuck on islands of asphalt. 😡
What a cool honor! Well deserved, I’m sure. Each photo you’ve shared is appealing–and year round! After thinking about it, I’m not that surprised at #3. I must admit I don’t know #1 or #2! 🙂
Marco Island is two hours south of AMI. We visited there 25 years ago and it was magical. We returned for a visit 5 years ago and I felt claustrophobic weaving our way through the high rises as we tried to make a beeline for the beach. We did a U-Turn and left without making it all the way to the shoreline.
Chincoteague gained fame with the Misty of Chincoteague books written decades ago. The Wild Ponies are still there as is the Assateague National Seashore. It’s a lovely place, albeit a bit cool in the winter.
Here’s hoping that AMI’s increased visibility doesn’t spoil her appeal.
Oh so beautiful! 😀
Today was Heritage Day on the island ~ lots of old timey photos of beach pavilions and old-fashioned bathing apparel. 😀
What a stunning paradise! You must be so proud to live there. 🙂
We are very pleased that Life led us Here. 😀
