Crow Kills December 21, 2013

Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently.

Due to concern that the crows might have died from Avian Flu, a Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows and, to everyone’s relief, confirmed the problem was NOT Avian Flu.

Instead, the cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts.

During the detailed analysis which followed, scientists noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird’s beaks and claws.

By analyzing the paint residue, they determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by trucks, while only 2% were killed by cars.

MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a rational explanation for the disproportionate percentage of truck kills versus car kills.

The Ornithological Behaviorist discerned the cause.

When crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger.

While all lookout crows could shout “Cah” . . . none could shout “Truck.”

Scientific deduction at its finest!

Aah . . . that’s better!
