Making Your Dreams Come True September 26, 2013

A short time ago, when I posted a post about Plein Air Painting, several readers requested that I share my paintings.
Since scanning hadn’t worked well, Tok suggested I photograph them.
Here’s one painted in 1998, ten years before we moved to FL. If you look past the glare off the glass, it’s how I dreamed my life could be and would be:
Listen to the mustn’ts child. Listen to the don’ts.
Listen to the shouldn’t haves, the impossibles, the won’ts.
Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me.
Anything can happen child. Anything can be.
~ Shel Silverstein
Was it worth the wait?
You betcha!
Aah . . . that’s better!

Love the videeeoh Nancy. Your painting is beautiful!
That video cracks me up ~ especially the line “Movies! Books! Sex and Chablis!”
Thanks, Pix. My dreamscape acted as a visual reminder for me for a decade ~ but I’m sure you can appreciate why the Loyal Order of the Moose chose The-Artist-Currently-Known-As-Cheetah to paint the building murals in the previous post.
I love your painting and would like to see some more.
Thanks, Grannymar. Next up . . . zebras I painted after ignoring my inner critic as it told me, in no uncertain terms, “you do NOT know how to paint a zebra.” 😛
I look forward to it!
It’s your good fortune that there are so many art movements and styles. However your zebra turns out, you can always say, “Well, of course it looks that that. It’s _____________ .”
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Eric ~ are you thinking “stylized impressionism” or “abstract art”?
Actually, I do have one painting of “Zebra Hippos” (really fat zebras) that are a bit Seussian.
Thanks, Grannymar . . . I haven’t taken any more photos yet, but will do so soon. I’d like to figure out how to eliminate the glare without having to unframe the paintings.
Thank you, I love the painting, that’s You!
Looking forward to some more.
I’m glad the photo came out well, I don’t even see the glass and there is no need for perspective correction of the photo.
Loved the video 😉
Thanks for the suggestion, Tok. I expect the paintings would photograph better if I took them out of their frames. But that would be more trouble than it’s worth. 😉
The video is a hoot. I had just finished this post when it arrived in my in-box . . . so I tacked it on to the end.
All the best for your Zebra picture 😉
Thanks, Maddy. Your avatar reminds me that I’ve been meaning to paint a FROG.
ahhaha… by all means… Paint it!! I’d love to see a frog in paint!!
Frogs IS cute . . . especially when singing “Bud~Weis~Er!”
I like it – you painted your destiny! So glad it was worth the wait 🙂
I painted lots of beach scenes but this one was “me” sitting where I wanted to be.
We just got back from a 3 mile walk on the beach. Great breeze.
Movies, books, sex and Chablis. So that’s what it’s about . 🙂 Nice to see you visioning. It clearly helps to manifest outcomes.
Yup! When we know what we want, it’s easier to get to where we’re going. Especially if we’re willing to take a few detours to really enjoy the journey from HERE to THERE.
Here’s to “movies, books, sex, and chablis!” 😉
Love the art, Nancy – how about some more.
Thanks, Don. I haven’t taken any more photos yet, but will do so soon. I’d like to figure out how to eliminate the glare without having to unframe framed watercolors.
I like the merry scene you have depicted!
For taking pictures of pictures under glass, I have found that side lighting with no flash and facing a dark area seems to give the best results.
Thanks, Col! I’m going to play around a bit . . . flash is definitely a “deal breaker” for shooting “under glass.”
Cool! Beautiful picture of a beautiful dream come true. You are one lucky girl.
Thanks, Linda. I agree and still pinch myself to make sure it’s not just a dream.
I love your painting, Nancy! I am absolutely joyous to see that you painted this wonderful scene 10 years before you actually moved to precisely to your personal tropical paradise! You knew all along what you dreamed about, and you brought it into your lives. What an encouragement that is to me, too! So many things we dream about just take time, and a little investment in the dream itself. 🙂
Thanks, Debra! After painting it, I kept it near my desk as a reminder of where I would end up . . . in due course.
A vision board can serve the same purpose ~ I made one a few years ago and shared it here:
The only thing I forgot to include was the chocolate. 😛
Beautiful painting! And..all in it’s time, eh? 🙂
Thanks, Shree. Life is stirred with a slow spoon.
Beautiful painting, Nancy. And I love the fact that you are now living the life that you painted. Gives me little goosebumps. 😀
Thanks, Marie. The biggest difference is that I almost never SIT on the beach ~ yesterday we did a 3 mile walk on the beach, the visit before we floated o’er the waves, but we rarely just plop our butts down neath the palms. (Though I expect that day will arrive).
[…] Fast forward 15 years ~ here’s the painting I told a few of you about yesterday: […]
