The Cleaner Weiner August 2, 2013

No, this post isn’t about Anthony Weiner cleaning up his act . . . it’s about Hot Dogs!

Or, rather, my favorite Hot Dog ad ever.

No, not the one with kids grinning and spelling:

O~S~C~A~R~M~E~Y~E~R.

It’s Mooscles!  An ad for Cleaner Weiners by Applegate ~ organic and natural meat, humanely raised, with no added growth hormones, antibiotics, or nitrates!

It’s the next best thing to becoming a vegetarian.

To see the entire line of clever Cleaner Weiner ads:  “Get A Cleaner Weiner With Applegate” (Minneapolis Egotist).  Or “Like” Applegate on Facebook!

Aah . . . that’s better!

Have you tried any of Applegate’s products?  What did you think?

Moo! 😀

2. suzicate - August 2, 2013

That commercial it too funny!

nrhatch - August 2, 2013

All the Applegate ads I’ve seen are terrific . . . the cow’s deadpan denials (“that’s not mine”) are so “today.”

3. Three Well Beings - August 2, 2013

I’ve never seen the ad and I don’t know if I’ve ever noticed Applegate–but I will now! Thank you. I’m rabid on the “no hormone” factor. I’ve never been a hot dog eater, even as a kid for some reason. I do enjoy some vegetarian sausages, but my granddaughters and almost everyone else in my family loves to BBQ hot dogs, and I would be so pleased to contribute these to the meal!

Extremely clever ad! 🙂

yay! Glad these appeal to the hostess in you. We don’t eat hotdogs any more (other than the occasional Morningstar Farms Veggie Dog) or I would definitely give these a try. They sell other products as well ~ cold cuts, cheese, and something else.

4. Grannymar - August 2, 2013

That was funny, we don’t have those ads on this side of the pond.

nrhatch - August 2, 2013

I expect that Applegates is just in the states now, but it is growing and gaining market share.

Reminiscent of Ahh-nold. Clever. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s likely processed food, which typically have chemical based preservatives and “natural” flavorings added. Still, this label reader will accord it due consideration if/when it’s marketed in the desert Southwest. Funny share. 🙂

nrhatch - August 2, 2013

Since we’re vegetarian, I haven’t tried these or even read the label, but the commercial cracks me up. From what I read on their site, Applegate is moving away from any GMO products. So they may limit the preservatives and flavorings added as well.

I have seen Applegate products at The Fresh Market and they’re also sold at Whole Foods.

That is funny, but so wrong! (And Anthony Weiner- what is wrong with that man?) Hmmm…there’s an idea…they can do the same commercial with him as the cow 🙂

Anthony Weiner is a messed up puppy who needs to step out of the media spotlight and get his act together.

Here’s a better Cleaner Weiner ad for Tony Weiner:

I haven’t paid attention to Applegate products. Have to check it out and see if our local grocery store carries them. This is worth a try as I like to eat healthy.

nrhatch - August 3, 2013

If you go to Applegate’s website, you can find stores in your area using your zip code.

8. William D'Andrea - August 3, 2013

I don’t know if any Applegate products are sold here in the New York Area. I don’t remember ever seeing any of their commercials. However, I do remember certain radio commercials for Schictouse Franks,(They were very careful how they pronounced that product’s name.) which “Plump when you cook them.”

As for Anthony Weiner, who is forunately not my Congressman; that guy just doesn’t have a clue. Nobody’s gonna vote for him. However, if I did live in his District, I might actually vote for his wife.

nrhatch - August 3, 2013

Hahaha . . . that’s a horrible name for hot dogs. One slip of the tongue and the meaning shifts from “Schict” to something far less palatable. 😆

Anthony Weiner exemplifies all that’s wrong with politicians today.

William D'Andrea - August 3, 2013

I think the Company’s name has been changed. They now advertised “Ball Park Franks”, which gives a wholesome sounding, family friendly, all American name to their product, which still “Plump when you cook them.”

nrhatch - August 3, 2013

A much better name!

9. Booksphotographsandartwork - August 3, 2013

I haven’t seen them that I know of but it’s about time for something like this to made. I’m still trying to find a good vegetarian one. I can’t remember the brand name that I was getting from Bi-Lo but they weren’t so great.

nrhatch - August 3, 2013

The best we’ve found are Morningstar Farms Veggie Dogs. By the time we dress them up with mustard and relish, sauerkraut, or pushcart onions, they taste like the “real deal.”

10. kateshrewsday - August 4, 2013

Sounds like a great meal, Nancy…can you get them in New York?

nrhatch - August 4, 2013

I expect so. I just typed my parents’ zip code in New Jersey into the website and it identified Whole Foods as a store that carries them. Another good bet would be The Fresh Market if you see one in the city.

I also recommend Sabrett Hot Dogs purchased from street carts in the city. I’m sure they are filled with all and sundry, but they are a tasty hot dog, indeed. 😉

Hehe…Moo!

It’s true about the hormones and whatever else they put in animals these days. Firstly it’s not right, secondly they cause allergies! I’d rarely seen people with allergies to chicken and beef..now I do.

nrhatch - August 5, 2013

Food allergies, especially peanut allergies, seem to be growing in both number and severity. Our tainted food supply is an issue in need of reform.
