Island Beat & Cops Corner July 22, 2013

I’ve written about the local crime scene on Anna Maria Island and its neighbor to the south, Longboat Key, before:

As mentioned in those articles, the local weekly newspapers report arrests and investigations in Cops Corner (Longboat Observer) and Beach Beat (AMI Sun).
Since neither island is a hotbed of criminal activity, the articles tend to cover vandalism, lost and stolen property, drunk and disorderly conduct, domestic disturbances, shoplifting, and the occasional suspicious person.
Last week, the Sun reported that a woman visiting the island from Italy went topless on the beach.
When officers approached her about the illegal nature of her “au naturel” activity, she agreed to put on her top.
Sounds like a cover up to me!
