A Cascading Calvacade of Gasconade July 19, 2013

“Listen to that cascading cavalcade of gasconade.”
“It’s despicable.”
“Human egos know no bounds.”
“I know. How they do go on and on about their perceived accomplishments.”
“It’s quite sad, really. All those delusions of adequacy . . .”
“When they don’t even know how to fly.”
“Exactly.”
“It’s no wonder they’re short-sighted.”
“I know, right! They have such tiny little beady eyes.”
“There are none so blind as those without compound eyes.”
“It’s no wonder they can’t see beyond the end of their noses.”
“And their ten tiny toeses.”
“Nasty creatures, indeed.”
Aah . . . that’s better!

Ha, so glad you provided the link for the definition of “gasconade”!
New word for me too, Suzi.
I also found out that Gasconade County and Gasconade River are both located in Missouri.
That info might be useful if I’m ever on Jeopardy.
So true about Gasconade County and Gasconade River! We tend to spend a fair amount of time in Hermann, Missouri, located in Gasconade County. It is full of vineyards and a quaint fun town. Lots of wine tasting.. 😀 Fun fun fun in the Fall for Octoberfest!!!! It’s wine country!
You should play along with Sidey’s weekend theme and take the prompt into an entirely new direction . . . filled with wine tasting and Octoberfest fun.
You could even share photos from past visits. 😀
hehe, exctly, we think we are superior!
Thanks for the new-to-me word, Sidey!
amazing what you find lurking in the word of the day places
It’s not even in my dictionary. If not for the internet, I’d have been side-lined by Sidey!
In fairness to me, I don’t hang out on piles of poop very often, so I’m taking this guy’s opinion with a grain of salt.
I think that’s wise!
I just can’t find a big enough pile.
I already regret having typed that and I didn’t hit reply yet.
😉
I thought of a number of quick retorts (dealing with politicians in D.C), but I’m afraid Big Brother is monitoring my key strokes so I swallowed them whole, without posting.
And now I have indigestion. 😛
Haha
LOL – great point of view 😀
It’s amazing where two unrelated prompts can lead. 😀
Ha! That’s turning the whole thing on its head, Nancy- very clever!
Thanks, Kate. Quite a FUN weekend prompt. Col did a superb job with gas-con-ade. 😀
The words was made for him, Nancy. It is a one-man-party in word form.
Yes!
Your clever creativity never ceases to amaze me! This post also puts our position in the world in better perspective. I would like to be able to fly!
Thanks, NC! I had fun imagining what I might hear as a fly on the wall listening to flies talk about “us.” 😀
All flightfully true, eye say!
Human beings are such fun to tease, too. They flap inadequately and make all these amusing sounds.
Indeed! Their grumbling and rumbling should be quite humbling.
The flies have it.
Well sort of.
Canines could make a pretty compelling argument, too. what with their acute senses.
Despite our perceived intelligence, some of us need to be swatted.
There is definitely room for improvement . . . 😉
The fly-on-the-wall’s perspective – too funny 😆
Thanks, BB! I had some FUN with this one. 😀
I LOVE your post, Nancy! 😀
Thank, Denise. Following two prompts at once is apt to be interesting since they lead our thoughts in unexpected directions.
Hehehehe! It’s fun at times to wonder what other animals think of us humans who think of ourselves as oh so intelligent and mighty…a race that tends to compare ourselves to animals..! You know like rat race, acts like a bull in a china shop, what a monkey you are, dirty little pig (which it itself is a fallacy as pigs, I have read, are really quite clean!!)
Some animals make their thoughts abundantly clear . . . like camels who spit at us. 😀
Or this Capuchin monkey who REJECTS unequal pay:
Oh!!! hahahahahaah…clever little monkey!!!!
The monkeys and some animals have got it right..haha
Isn’t he a hoot?! He knows what he wants and it ain’t cucumbers!
I think I may have gotten a little blustery up there in comments.. 😀
Your enthusiasm is contagious . . . now I’m waiting to see if you post photos of Gasconade County and link up to Sidey’s theme.
Cheers!
No posting today! I think we are heading off to St. Louis. Still trying to decide if we want to drive 4 hours today.. 😀
We about to head to Snooty’s 65th Birthday Party . . . he’s an OLD manatee and the star of Manatee County.
LOL!!! Guess they were pretty blunt and let us know we humans are not superior and are also funny looking.
I can see butterflies “beating about the bush” but never flies . . . they are “straight shooters.” 😉
I’ll concede that humans can be short-sighted…but at least most of us don’t congregate on piles of poo. (I say ‘most’ because there could be people who are into that, although I’ve not had their acquaintance.)
The Poo Guru says, “Few people populate piles of poo (once they are older than two).”
Now you’re just too clever here, Nancy! I loved it. I do pride myself in being careful to remember there are always multiple perspectives on any situation…but I never once thought about how a fly sees me. 🙂
Thanks, Debra. Gasconade is a fine word ~ I am pleased to have made its acquaintance.
Flies, like many other insects, must see us as giant “fly swatters.” 😉
