Surprise! December 21, 2012

Posted by nrhatch in Art & Photography, Humor.

Life is full of unexpected pleasures . . . and sweet surprises!

Make a wish and blow out the candle.  Notice pink flamingoes whenever they cross your path. Go with the flow. Enjoy twists and turns. Celebrate the NOW.

It’s probably NOT “the end of the world.”

Aah . . . that’s better!

2. Hudson Howl - December 21, 2012

Eh d’r ya go!… you can’t beat a pink flamingo -happy birthday and shtufffs.

As for the pink flamingo; I like to think share a little love share a little pink (and when I say it, it is said with this deep deep manly curmudgeon voice that I was given which sounds a bit odd but even Ogres have a soft side).

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

Thanks, Hudson! If you looking for something to do between NOW and the End of the World . . . check out Susanna Leonard Hill’s Pretty Much World Famous 2nd Annual Holiday Contest.

The finalists submitted fantastic entries . . . including one with Yeti, Big Foot, and Sasquatch.

Hudson Howl - December 21, 2012

End of the world! I’ll snap right to it, tomorrow or day after the end….no, I went there thank you, an am going back.

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

The entires are so FUN! It was hard to pick just ONE.

3. Tammy - December 21, 2012

No but a great time to make a pivotal change.

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

Yup. Every day is the first day of the rest of your life . . . and the Winter Solstice is a great time for resolutions as the days grow longer and the night dissipates. 😎

4. Tom (Aquatom1968) - December 21, 2012

That’s a fine looking cake, Nancy! And, coincidentally, I’m seeing quite a lot of flamingos lately. You’ve just made me notice them all the more! 😀

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

It’s amazing what we see . . . when we take the time to notice. 😀

So glad that your end of the world winter solstice 12/21 party is such a smashing success.

Tom (Aquatom1968) - December 21, 2012

Thank you… it’s going rather well! 🙂

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

I’ve enjoyed wandering about the mansion . . . checking out the nooks and crannies. I got distracted in the library.

So many books, so little time.

5. ericjbaker - December 21, 2012

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Cake.

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

Whoever invented cake has our un-ending-of-the-world gratitude!

6. colonialist - December 21, 2012

Pink flamingoes are fine. It is when I see pink elephants that I will start to worry!

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

Yes! If pink elephants appear on the horizon, I soon realize that my imagination is “off kilter” again. 😉

colonialist - December 21, 2012

Or alcoholic intake! 🙂

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

That could do it too! 😯

7. barb19 - December 21, 2012

BFF is showing his ‘artistic’ side with that cake – what a lovely surprise for you. Happy Birthday Nancy!

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

Thanks, Barb! BFF makes great birthday cakes for me . . . much better than the ones I make for him. This is actually an old photo, from about 18 months ago. It seemed perfect for the SURPRISE theme.

8. sweetdaysundertheoaks - December 21, 2012

Happy Happy Birthday Nancy!

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

Thanks, Pix! This year I celebrated my birthday in NJ with my mom and brothers . . . no BFF. This was taken the year before.

From this point forward, I’m going to remain “21 plus.”

9. sufilight - December 21, 2012

Just made a wish, truly, and pretended to blow out the candle! 😀 Your sweetie is a sweetheart.

nrhatch - December 21, 2012

I’ve been trying to blow out that cyber candle all day . . . no luck yet. And, yes, he is! 😀

10. jannatwrites - December 22, 2012

Nice cake! The world was supposed to end today? Shoot, I missed it. I’ll hold off on laundry just in case something happens in the next hour and a half 🙂

nrhatch - December 22, 2012

That’s the spirit! Never do today what you can put off until . . . after the end of the world. 😀

11. Jas - December 22, 2012

A happy happy birthday and when BFF bakes it, nothing like it 😀

nrhatch - December 22, 2012

“Baked Better By BFF” . . . and for woodworking projects, it becomes “Built Better by BFF.” He’s a keeper. 😀

12. kateshrewsday - December 22, 2012

Love it. And here we all are, still.

nrhatch - December 22, 2012

Surprise! I wonder if all the doomsdayers are disappointed . . . and scrambling madly to complete their Christmas shopping. 😉

13. eof737 - December 22, 2012

Great idea… Let’s all eat cake! 🙂

14. Perfecting Motherhood - December 23, 2012

Only in Florida do you see pink flamingoes on cake! Cute!

nrhatch - December 23, 2012

Pink flamingoes are ubiquitous in advertising here . . . but we’ve only seen actual flamingoes at Sarasota Jungle Gardens. Go figure.

15. pix & kardz - December 23, 2012

no surprise that the end of the world has not come 🙂
but any time is a perfect time for cake! 😀

nrhatch - December 24, 2012
