Good Eats December 10, 2012

I’ve been holding out on you. I know how much you all like drooling over photos of good food. And we’ve enjoyed some delicious dishes this fall.
Between one thing and another, I never got around to sharing BFF’s birthday lunch at the Sandbar.
He ordered Fried Scallops . . . for the last time. Ever. Shellfish allergy. 😦
I enjoyed a Greek Salad with lots of kalamata olives and pepperoncini. You can’t see the olives . . . because I already ate them.
We both enjoyed the fragrant fresh baked bread with B~U~T~T~E~R.
Shortly after BFF’s birthday, we attended the Grand Opening of a new Art Gallery and a Bakery at the Green Village on Pine Avenue.
After inhaling mini cupcakes, we drank champagne and ate C~H~E~E~S~E.
Last week, we visited the Chart House on Longboat Key for Happy Hour.
We sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed tasty treats, holiday tunes, and the decor.
I sipped the Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling . . . with a S~M~I~L~E.
In a room with a view.
Oh, the treats?
We ordered Bruschetta with fresh tomatoes, garlic, and cheese.
And Spinach Artichoke Dip with crisp Crostini.
And a trio of Hummus ~ plain, spicy, and edamame ~ with plantains and pita.
Cheers!
Aah . . . that’s better!

Yum. Yum. And more YUM!
Thanks, Pix. Food = Good Mood. 😀
I agree wholeheartedly with the previous message!
Thanks, aawwa. Glad you enjoyed.
Looks looks so good! I’m gonna have to hightail it for some breakfast now. I’ll probably be craving scallops all day. No allergy for me thank goodness.
Have a great breakfast, Arlee! Hope you satisfy that scallop craving in short order.
BTW: BFF never had a problem before. Turns out, shellfish allergies can pop up later in life. He’s bummed. Scallops were a fave. At least he’s not allergic to pizza. 😀
I’m going to eat something right now.
Mission accomplished! 😉
It seems you’ve having a lot of fun and you are looking wonderful, relaxed and happy. I am glad. xxx
Thanks, Cin. Like many, we enjoy moments of “good times” punctuated by challenges . . . it’s been quite the year.
Incredible photos, Nancy! It all looks wonderful… but… shellfish and allergy are two words that do NOT belong together! That sounds awful! I hope BFF is feeling much better, now!!!
Thanks, SIG. He had a very mild reaction. Allergy capsules with antihistamine sorted it out . . . but he’s bummed that he can no longer eat scallops.
* tummy rumbles ominously*
Those bruchetta….and that cheeseboard…
It’s getting easier to refrain from diving in until AFTER I’ve snapped the shot ~ except for the olives. An unfortunate casualty of my healthy appetite. 😀
I’m mad about olives too. They wouldn’t last long enough for the photoshoot in my house.
It’s hard to resist eating all of the olives.
That sounds like a honeymoon! Perfect (save the shellfish allergy!) Thanks for letting us all tag along via this post 🙂
We are trying to keep our spirits bright amid the challenges . . . food helps. 😀
Nothing like good food to put us in a good mood!
Eating is one of life’s simple pleasures, especially at Happy Hour prices. Each of those gorgeous Chart House appetizers cost only $4!
Looks like you’ve had some fun (and some good food.) Thanks for sharing the pictures!
Sorry about 2 posts today . . . one slipped out by accident. 😉
Belated happy birthday to your BFF and I wouldn’t even ask how much weight you’ve gained. You look fab in the picture.
Thanks, Seeker! I’ll pass along your greetings. Despite the unexpected allergic reaction, BFF enjoyed his special day.
As for my weight . . . it’s a bit higher than “ideal” but generally stays in a comfortable range for me. 😉
Looks like you’re living large! Happy Birthday to the BFF.
And I even got to watch a Christmas Parade this week . . . complete with Pirates. Aargh, Matey!
This looks delicious better than the food that I see on Anthony Bourdain’s travel show. He eats normal food but mostly very weird food which he finds exquisite. I am thinking to myself, maybe I am not sophisticated enough. LOL.
I know I am not sophisticated enough to dine with Tony or Andrew Zimmern . . . but I don’t care. I like plain food, simply prepared better than hotsy totsy towers of jellies surrounded in a sea of foam. 😀
All my favorite foods! I love the way the hummus was in such perfect little mounds! I’ve never seen it served that way, and I’d love to try to duplicate that. What a lovely day, too. It simply looked like it was very relaxing, and yes, with a view–also my favorite way to dine! 🙂
The hummus was our favorite . . . interesting to try it three ways and with fried plantains. Different, yet comfortable.
The atmosphere was soothing . . . until a L~O~U~D guest sat next to us while BRAYING into her cell phone. Hee Haw. 🙄
Did BFF get an allergic reaction after you took that picture? What a bummer to be allergic to something that good.
Your food pictures all look delicious but that cheese and fruit platter is my favorite!
Yes, he’d never had a problem before. After eating lunch, he developed a rash of pink polka dots. We connected the dots and realized that he was allergic to scallops (shellfish).
We only have seafood once a month, so cutting out shellfish will not be a drastic change to his diet. What would be a real bummer . . . developing an allergy to C~H~O~C~O~L~A~T~E or any other “daily staple.”
I just wouldn’t like to be allergic to anything!
I agree. But I’d much rather be allergic to shellfish . . . than, say, develop a Gluten Intolerance and be unable to eat BREAD. 😀
