Playing With My Palette October 15, 2012

Today, I shall pull out my paints and play with my palette
Creating the world anew
Pink palms, tasseled with yellow fronds
Green skies, punctuated with purple clouds
Blue grass underfoot, and falling leaves filling the air
After all, words only take one so far
But dreams, dreams . . . hold the promise of infinity
Aah . . . that’s better!
Quote to Ponder: Artists can color the sky red because they know it’s blue. Those of us who aren’t artists must color things the way they really are or people might think we’re stupid. ~ Jules Feiffer

When I managed a Hallmark Shop we had a Halloween coloring contest. The little girl who won the pre-school entries colored her pumpkin purple. The art teacher judge was impressed because if this little girl saw pumpkins could be purple and was willing to brave the critics that told her it was wrong she should be encouraged. I agreed–not everyone did.
Yay! I’m glad the purple pumpkin won the pre-school coloring contest. Conformity should not trump creativity in the world of visual arts and imagination.
Vibrant, Nancy 🙂
Thanks, Kate. I enjoyed playing around with these photos from Bean Point . . . there is something about purple clouds and green skies that appeals. 😀
Wow, I like the quote (and Thich Nhat Hanh in your previous post). Nature is very creative, adds color and form where it wants to, so we should be able to do this too with art. 🙂
This quote is a favorite of mine . . . ending as it does on the word, “stupid.” 😉
And, yes, in a world with zebras and giraffes and other outrageous creations, there is ALWAYS room to color outside the lines.
Beautiful photos 🙂
Thanks, aawwa!
The top one looks like a painting. Very relaxing.
Thanks, Andra. Bean Point is a quiet oasis at the northern tip of Anna Maria Island . . . most times we’ve been, there hasn’t been another soul around.
OMG!
😎
Yes, yes. refreshing!
Dreams….
Hope your week is off to a wonderful start, WWS.
You are very kind.Thank you, and it is.
Back at you.
Love these!
Thanks, Tammy. When I started blogging, my favorite thing was playing with words . . . now it’s a toss up. It’s a lot of fun to play with photos too! 😀
What fun to “play” with photos, colors and dreams of infinity!
Thanks, Kathy. Life IS more fun when we don’t treat everything as if it were a matter of life and death. Live, Love, Laugh, Play!
You know I love to tweak a photo and I love these!!
Thanks, Pix! Sometimes a tweak is just the thing to make Pix’s pics pop up and sing! 😀
Nice!
Thanks,TRS.
Playing with the colors must be fun and relaxing. I can get lost in doing things like that…I can’t draw or paint, but if there’s a program to do it for me, I’m in! 🙂
ME, TOO!
It’s fun sorting through photos to see which ones might offer intriguing results. And, unlike painting with watercolors (when what’s done is done) . . . if we don’t like one effect, we can try another. 😀
How funny, you wrote this post on the very same day I decided I should get me a drawing tablet. Someone must have sprinkled some creativity dust in the air!
Have fun, Milka! Watch out for that creativity dust . . . it’s catching.
I know it is! And that’s why when I ask Santa for a drawing tablet for Xmas, I’m also going to ask him to bring a smaller one for my kids, or they’ll want to play with mine all the time!
Did you see our popcorn art this week? That was fun. http://perfectingmotherhood.wordpress.com/2012/10/18/make-popcorn-art/
Loved your popcorn art . . . but it’s a SLOTH, not a TURTLE. 😉
Looks like somebody was having fun with photo editing software.
What a difference a change in color makes, eh? 😀
