The South Florida Museum hosted a family friendly event on Friday night that was “Out of this World.”

Center Stage:  Fe~Ni, a 138-pound fragment of the 4.5 billion-year-old Campo del Cielo meteorite which plummeted to earth around 2,500 B.C., raining down on an area now called Campo del Cielo (“the Field of Heaven”) in northern Argentina . . .

Sharing the spotlight:  Snooty, the Museum’s mascot, a 64-year-old manatee  who weighs considerably more than 138-pounds . . .

Supporting Acts:  an extensive  collection of Election Memorabilia ~ Vote for Me!  Vote for Me! ~ The Marketing of Presidential Campaigns and Clyde Butcher photography exhibit, Preserving Eden, with larger than life dramatic scenes from Florida . . .

Final Curtain:  a walk on the waterfront to admire the moonlit marina . . .

Aah . . . that’s better!

Sounds like a nice night out! The marina is gorgeous! I’m always happiest when I’m near water!

Same here . . . it’s like a magnet, pulling me close. When we travel, I have to stop at EVERY waterfall, lake, babbling brook, rushing stream, ocean, sea, and rocky river.

Peace like a river. _/!\_

The moonlit marina shot! Aah..that’s better! You said it Nancy!! Just so you know, we are cold here.

So I’ve heard, Pix. Everywhere in the country is cooling off . . . except here.

Let us know when you’re ready to come down and warm up.

OK!

Yay!

Sounds like a good outing. The moonlit walk on the marina appeals to me. Why does water attract us like a magnet? The peacefulness, the stillness perhaps?

Maybe we’re “pre-wired” to enjoy water? Water is “womb-like” . . . drowning out sound, allowing us to float freely, suspended in our own little world.

Or maybe it’s because . . . Kids + Puddles = Perfect Together. 😀

I love the marina shot! And what a great museum. I was so surprised to hear about a 64 year old manatee, but then I thought again…4.5 billion year old meteor! You had a BIG weekend! 🙂

I know! All things being relative . . . I feel like a KID again! 😉

Gosh, I didn’t realise manatees lived that long. Nice night out.

The average life span in the wild is much, much, much less. Snooty is setting “world records” for manatee longevity.
