The Goal Behind All Goals August 4, 2012

True success in life lies only in how much we are enjoying life.
Any other measure is illusion . . . the grasping and grappling for external accolades and applause by the “false self” (that greedy Ego which never ever feels it has achieved ENOUGH recognition).
If we are enjoying life, inner peace and happiness arise of their own accord.
We don’t need to do anything to be happy . . . we just are:
I am grateful for what I am and have.
My thanksgiving is perpetual . . .
O how I laugh when I think of my vague indefinite riches.
No run on my bank can drain it
for my wealth is not possession but enjoyment.
~ Henry David Thoreau
Happiness is never in things . . . it is in us.
Or it isn’t.
The roles we assume are just window dressing.
If we decide to be a dutiful daughter or loving mother or televangelist or organic farmer . . . it’s because we feel, at some level, that stepping into those roles will make us happy.
If we find that we are NOT happy, inner conflict replaces inner peace.
Until we resolve the conflict, we will not feel successful no matter how many other people approve of our actions.
Happiness is the goal behind all goals.
And we can only live happily~ever~after on a moment by moment basis.
Be Here Now.
Aah . . . that’s better!
