Hop On The Bus, Gus! June 9, 2012

Posted by nrhatch in Humor.

Well, I’m off!

I’m headed to Orlando to “hop on the bus, Gus.”

Once packed, with suitcases and duffel bags stacked, we’ll wend our way North to New Jersey (the Garden State) for a fun old-fashioned family reunion.

Or, as we Scots call it . . . a “gathering of the clans.”

Wikipedia ~ Hammer Throw (in Public Domain)

A get-together . . . just like the Braemar Gathering.

Only smaller.

With fewer kilt-wearing, caber tossing, highland dancing,  bagpiping Haggis eaters in attendance.

And no Royals from Balmoral ~  they’re still recovering from the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

We will have a few wee drams of Scotch on hand to “wet the whistle.”

For medicinal purposes only.

{{nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, say no more}}

I may have access to the internet and time for cyber-surfing amidst the festive frivolity and frivolous fun.

Or not.

Time will tell.   Be well.

Ach, mon . . . that’s better!

Thanks. As soon as I finish my coffee/wake up, I’ll be on my way.

2. 2e0mca - June 9, 2012

Which Clan would you be a part of then Nancy? And none of that blended muck… Proper single malt whisky only!

Aye, laddie. Perhaps some Glenfiddich?

2e0mca - June 9, 2012

Ok – Gordon for me… 🙂 Glenfiddich is a beginners scotch… go try Glen Laphroaig or Talisker. Though, at the smoother end, Highland Park or that singular Deeside scotch Royal Lochnagar, deserve a look. Enjoy your caber tossing 🙂

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

I am a beginner when it comes to Scotch. Thanks for the tips.

3. Life in the Boomer Lane - June 9, 2012

Have fun!

nrhatch - June 9, 2012

Thanks, Renee. Your message got snagged by the SPAM filter. But I skimmed it out before “flushing” the rest. 😉

4. granny1947 - June 9, 2012

Have a great time.
Don’t eat too much Haggis.

nrhatch - June 9, 2012

No worries there, Granny. I’ll not be seen in the same room with Haggis. 😛

5. katecrimmins - June 9, 2012

Loved the video, especially the accents! Why are foreign accents so intriguing? Have a great trip.

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

The trip had HIGHS and LOWS. And lots of accents. 😉

6. sweetdaysundertheoaks - June 9, 2012

Have a wonderful time Nancy!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Thanks, Pix! Glad I went. Gladder still to be home.

7. magsx2 - June 9, 2012

Wow, sounds great, enjoy your trip, and I loved the video, going now to watch part 2. 🙂

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Glad you enjoyed the video. The trip was . . . CHALLENGING. It’s good to be back on Terra Firma.

8. Just A Smidgen - June 9, 2012

Enjoy your travels and your break!!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

I need a break from the “break.” Rather an arduous adventure.

9. ryoko861 - June 9, 2012

Where in Jersey? (I’m a Jersey girl 😉 )
Have a great time! The weather is suppose to be great (ok, maybe a threat of a small shower)!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Monmouth County . . . middle of the state, near the shore.

10. kateshrewsday - June 9, 2012

😀 Have a great time Nancy….are you blogging whilst on the move?

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

As it turns out . . . NO. Instead, I enjoyed a 13 day “internet fast.” 😀

11. jannatwrites - June 9, 2012

Sounds like fun! So, are you saying that you’ll have at least a few kilt-wearing, caber tossing, highland dancing, bagpiping Haggis eaters there? If so, I hope you share some pictures 🙂

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

None that I noticed . . . but I do have some photos to share.

12. sufilight - June 9, 2012

Have a wonderful time! And if a kilt wearing relative does show up, do take pics. 🙂

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

No kilts. A few bathing suits. Lots of smiles. A few frowns and tantrums. Good to be home. Photos soon.

sufilight - June 22, 2012

Welcome home, Nancy!!! 🙂

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Thanks, Marie! It’s nice seeing so many friendly faces on SLTW.

13. bluebee - June 9, 2012

Have a hoot, mon, 🙂

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

We did. And also a holler (or two). 😉

bluebee - June 22, 2012

Hello Nancy 😀

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

There’s no place like “home” . . . 😀

14. Patricia - June 9, 2012

Have fun!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Thanks, Patricia. Not a terribly relaxing week, but quite productive. Glad I went. Gladder still to be back in my “as usual” life.

Patricia - June 22, 2012

There is nothing like being home and in your own bed.

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

I’ve often felt that the BEST part of any trip is walking through my front door.

15. souldipper - June 10, 2012

Enjoy, Lassie! It was fun to watch the video on Balmoral Castle. I knew the Queen always loved it.

See ya soon, Nance.

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

After 13 days away from a computer . . . I’m still feeling a bit shaky in my Cyber Shoes. 😉

16. Andra Watkins - June 10, 2012

Stop and see us on the return. Safe travels, Nancy!!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

I’ll be around shortly. I’m playing catch up on several fronts at the moment.

17. CMSmith - June 10, 2012

Have a great trip.

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Thanks, Christine. A very different reunion from those celebrated in the past. My parents did seem pleased to have ALL their kids and grandkids around . . . maybe for the last time.

18. Pocket Perspectives - June 10, 2012

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Thanks, Kathy. And congratulations on your retirement!

Pocket Perspectives - June 22, 2012

Oh welcome back!….we’ve missed you!…so special that your parents were pleased…ohhhhh, I see below…smiles and tears…it does get complicated as parents age. I hope you and bff had enjoyable times too.
And retirement??…wow….so much easier than working…WOW!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

The past 13 days have been an arduous adventure . . . UP one minute and DOWN the next. But that’s life, eh?

I’m so glad that you’re enjoying your time away from work. Thanks for the warm welcome home. 😀

19. viviankirkfield - June 10, 2012

Aye, Nancy…safe travels! Sounds like a right proper gathering, to be sure. 🙂

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Definitely a “working” vacation . . . we made some progress on several fronts, but there is still much to be done around the “OK Corral.”

20. Three Well Beings - June 12, 2012

Hope you’ve had a great time. I was out of commission for a few days too…family wedding and it functioned as a reunion, too! The best of times…hope it was for you, too, Nancy! Debra

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

As Dickens might say: “It was the best of times . . . and the worst of times.” Glad you had fun.

21. Team Oyeniyi - June 12, 2012

Have a wonderful time! With you away I won’t feel so guilty about my lack of visits! I had a four day weekend this weekend and every intention of catching up – it didn’t happen – but I am trying and did manage to visit a few of my favourite people!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Thanks for swinging by. I don’t know that I will be able to comment on ALL the posts that landed in my In Box during my 13-day Cyber Fast.

I did scroll through the notifications and saw that one of your sons celebrated a birthday! Hope he enjoyed every minute.

22. cuhome - June 12, 2012

Sounds like a ton of fun! Enjoy!

nrhatch - June 22, 2012

Definitely NOT all Fun and Games . . . but smiles prevailed over the tears (most of the time, anyway).
